Need to trade a breeding fish.

I have a pair of clarkii who have successfully laid 5 fertile nests, I've never raised the fry but they lay a lot of eggs.

Unfortunately the male turned on the female and nearly killed her. I pulled her to give her time to heal. I've tried to re-introduce her a couple times with the same result. I would really like to trade one out for a similar fish that I can pair up with the other half.

Their nest were over 1000 eggs each.

The female is about 5" long and quite fat. The supposed male is about 3.5" long. To give you an idea the LTA below is about 7-8" across and the BTA they are fighting in is 12+" across.

I'd like a decent 3" fish or better that is NOT a female, you can have the choice of which of my fish you'd like. The female still has a little pop-eye and a couple places where she's been attacked are still rough looking. She is eating well and otherwise healthy.

If you take the "male" be aware that I am fairly certain that he is now a she and I would not recommend introducing him to a tank with an adult female.

They are primarily black on the body with a light grey face. Dosals are black, pectoral fins are clearish yellow and their belly below the pecs are yellow. Their Pelvic and anal fins are yellow with black areas. Their white stripes are quite striking and show a lot of blue.

I'd really prefer a similarly colored mate but would consider others.

If you have a couple of med-large juvies this is an excellent opportunity to get them to transition to adulthood.

You can see some video of them fighting over the anemone just before I pulled her.

Final fight before I pulled her (1.7 Meg)

First fight (half meg)

wow she is really submitting to him (all the twitching). You might want to hit her with some Nitrofurazone if her left eye has just started to bulge like that. Pretty indicative of some type of bacterial infection behind the eye ball and in the socket. Bacteria produce gas that pushes the eye out. Just thought I would mention that for you.

PS. They have great color!!!!

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure it's trauma. She has been known to run into the LR every now and then.

I guess it can't hurt to pull her out of the sump and put her in hospital for a couple days. I think I'll come down tomorrow and pick some up.

What time are you in on Friday?

One of my clownfish was getting attacked by my tang, and developed popeye like that - I left it for a few days after moving it to a hospital tank, hoping it would resolve on its own, but it just got worse. I ended up treating it with Maracyn Two, and it cleared up in two days (unfortunately, it was too stressed to eat and ended up dying anyways). So it might not hurt to treat it in case it doesn't go away on its own.

well, it's just about gone and she's done it before but I'll stop by and pick some meds up anyway, can't hurt.

She's eating fine too btw.

Well, they're back in the display tank together and he is now submitting to her. There's a lot of chasing going on but they aren't trying to kill one another anymore.... We'll see if they decide to breed again.
