Recommendation for powerheads on a 58G 36LX18WX20D. Nothing in tank yet, still gathering equipment. Plan on having 60lbs of rock, maybe Aragamax Sand as a substrate.

I'm guessing two powerheads on each side of tank. Do I need a powerhead in the sump?

LPS

I was going to do one 6025 and one 6045, but the 45's are still pre-orders it seems. I ended up ordering one 6025 and one 6060.

I am just about ready to start up a 75gl and move everything from the 30 gl that has been up for 4yrs. I am looking at the 6045 but can't seem to find them any where let a lone any 6025s; everything is pre-order. Anyone know where I can get any of the 6045s as the 6025 might not be enough current flow? They must be out there somewhere as others already have them.

On a different note, If the 6055 have an adjustable current flow what would the range be?

Any source for the 6055? Does it include a controller, or is the controller purchased separately? If so, which controller?

Thanks,

R.

6055 [only pulsing/varying flow nanostream from what I've read] are not yet on the market, I think a few weeks away or so. Given the many folks who want them, folks who have pre-ordered ... you might have a wait.
That's the way it goes with brand-new equipment.

Personally, I would go with a 6000 [variable] vs. a 6060 if you want LPS. While I've got both in my 58 [more sps than lps] ... the variable one seems to treat the LPS much better where the 6060 is a LOT of flow in the tank. [good, but tricky to avoid blowing the lps too much].

JMO :)

I agree, a 6060 will likely be too much for a 58 for LPS. The 6055 can be controller by either the 7091 or 7095, they will not be available until late March.

O.K., for those who already have them, what would you recommended for a 75gl with both LPS and SPS; two 6025, two 6045 or one each and is there anywhere to get them or am I going to have to pre-order?

rvitko, has the problems with the 6025 been fixed or can I expect to have to return them after a few weeks to get'em fixed and does the same problem exist with the 6045s. Whick controller would I get with either or can I get the same one for both if I went with one each.

The reason for all the questions is I only want to have to buy things for the 75gl once. I've been planning and assembling the equipment for this 75gl for almost a year now as the 30 gl went up too soon and much of what went in it and what was used to start it up has been replaced. As nothing in this hobbie is cheap, that amounts to a lot of waisted money and I'm trying to avoid that on this round. The nano streams seem like the perfect power head I have been invisioning for setting up my tank. While Tunze has some nice powerheads, I believe the nano streams (if they work like the design suggest) will top the list of other powerheads and everyone else in the market will be playing catch up to change their design.

First off, the majority of the 6025's and 6045's still work just fine but there was a higher defect rate than we would have liked. That has been resolved and the last batch we got was problem free. We have not recieved any for a few weeks though and we won't get more in for a couple weeks as the factory has just now been open a week after the holidays. I would be fairly certain if you order now there will be a wait but what you recieve will be new.
