hey guys can ya check my vid please its my skimmer section on my sump as some of ya know my o ring broke on my remora but thats gonna get fixed, for now i have it sitting the highest i can with out the o ring, anyways as ya can see i moded a small piece of pvc in the cup to have the neck meet the top of the skimmer lid to have it slow the wet skim some and make more suds though as ya can see its not very good, this is almost 14 or so hours of it running this way,way too wet i think,,any thoughts as to why its this way? is it cause my drain line is too close.....the sections too small....i cant really understant it to being cause of me using tap water and not ro....the point of a skimmer is to pull out crap from the water anyways ill shut up lol and let ya pros hack it out lol http://s92.photobucket.com/albums/l31/queeniepaula/?action=view&current=Video0024.mp4&newest=1

With something this specific equipment wise, you may be able to get more help in the equipment forum. :)

Lots more people in there. ;)

That's kind of a neat idea. There is something in your water that's making it skim that wet. Keep in mind you probably won't ever get a good thick skimate out of a Remora though. When they are working best IME the skimmate looks like tea.

im with chris something in your water..
thats why people go get ro/di water at the LFS if they dont have a unit. you can even get ro water at krogers. but it won't be goodfor sps corals and some LPS, softies and also its just RO water no DI.

i can see the reasoning in what ya guys are saying, btw forgive my nasty under tank ooking stuff since its hidden away i forget to clean them lol guess illl hold out as is til i get my tds meter and maybe some filters and a membrane for my ro/di unit thanks guys

I don't think it is necessarily your water, unless you are medicating the tank for some reason. I believe it has to do with that o-ring, is it used for an adjustment, to hold the holding tank at a specific height location. I have an Aqua-c skimmer but not the Remora, I know that it is finicky to adjust. The best bet is read the instruction manual (if you don't have it, it is on their site) and find out how to adjust this equipment properly. I do know that when my skimmer is adjusted properly (took me some time in the beginning to figure it out) it will produce the black, nasty, thick crud and the cup will fill up every day, if I had to buy another skimmer I would still buy an Aqua-C. After you get to know them, they are the best IMHO... There are lot's of people that don't like them because of the adjustments to the equipment and they will get rid of them cheap. Another thing you can do is call Aqua-C, they stand behind their product and are good at trouble shooting over the phone.

The Oring is to adjust the skimmer and the cup looks like it is adjusted as high as it will go. The Remora's behave differently than the other AquaC skimmers (I've owned both) like the EV180 etc...
What is in the water doesn't necessarily have to be something that hasn't been taken out by a filter (although it can be) it could be epoxy that has been used lately, a fish or something else that's died etc.....something in the water is just making the skimmer run wet even when adjusted to run dry. At least that's what it looks like to me:)

im thinking you might be right,i suppose in the future i will just upgrade my skimmer thanks guys for all the thoughts
