Nemo's purple gigantea

Ok after losing the beautiful blue gig awhile back I was pretty bummed out. But I knew going in that it didn't look good. Any how I Was out and about at the LFS yesterday and they had two gigs a bleach green and bleach purple maybe blue when it is fully healthy. The guy gave me a great deal since the blue gig didn't make it last time.

It's very sticky with no gaping mouth. I'm hoping this will survive in my care. From my past experience bleached gig seems to fair better than the awesome colored not bleached ones.

Here you go.

Beautiful! Hope it makes it! Don't forget to provide it with supplemental feeding (mysis, raw shrimp, silversides, etc.)

Video update
was taken 15 mins ago. No signs of inflating deflating but has a gaping mouth. Feed it some soaked cyclopeeze ...later will advance to mysis krill fresh shrimp.

That could turn out to be a very stunning gig. I would hold off on feeding it though as it might cause undo stress. IMO too many people try and feed their anemones too soon.

+1 agreed.

I never do and this is why I only use cyclopeeze with selcon it should be better for him to digest it. I don't go overboard on feeding my nems. For him it's going to be 1 a week with cyclopeeze/selcon.

Quick update.

Temp is raised to 84degrees. Flow is stronger. Mouth is closed maybe open 1cm or so every now n then.

Quick photo

Here is a better photo of my Gig. Has anyone seen the foot having almost two/three different colors or is it just me? Too me its blue/reddish brown. What y'all think. So far with higher temp and more flow he is starting to due much better no gaping mouth and finally I feed it with some krill. Took it down like a champ.

I can really say this guy is probably staying for good (no DOA). 🙏...

Quick video update. Zoos are looking to come back gradually.

Too bring back a bleached gig, you have to keep it in a quarantine tank and have special tank conditions? In other words, how/what do you need to save a bleached gig? And why is it better to buy a bleached one then a fully healthy and colorful one?

I have been wanting one for a while now. I currently have about five bubbles and a haddon that are all thriving. Maybe in the future if i ever upgrade i will have a gig.

Of course a fully healthy and colorful gig is better if you can find one. These animals suffer from collection and shipping, however, and it is really hard to find one like that in an LFS.

What people in this thread mean is that, all other things being equal, bleaching is a problem that can be overcome with patience and good conditions. Unlike, say, deflating and a gaping mouth, which are really bad signs.
