Neon Gobies and Clams...

Krazy

In Memoriam
I've got two crocea's, one squamosa, and one deresa clam...

My damn female neon gobie keeps laying on the mantle of the croceas, it doesnt phase the one clam but the other keeps closing...

Is this harmful to the clam, it doesnt appear to be harming it just ****in it off rather..

:(

i have a similar problem with my algae blenny perching on my 7" maxima. he was jumpy at first but now the clam doesn't seem to mind, he doesn't even flinch anymore.

yeah the clam doesnt stay closed at all..

Good to know it shouldnt be a problem :)

Thanks for the replies

My Neon Goby does the exact same thing with my Crocea. Almost like it thinks it's a Clown and it thinks the Crocea is it's anemone!!

I have two friends with ORA neon gobies that are little bastards with clams. I think it probably angers the reef keeper more than the clam. For me having a $15 neon goby biting/annoying my $60 clam is ground for a booting out of the tank.

I put a neon goby in with my large squamosa and for about 4-5 days it kept on trying to go inside the clam. This obviously made the clam not to happy as it would close when this occurred. I was afraid I was going to have to get rid of the goby but after about 5 days, he stopped trying and now sits on the edge of the mantle with no problems. They have been good friends now for over a year. Hopefully your clam adjusts too.

I had to get rid of my neon, it was perching at first which seemed innocent enough but i caught it nipping at the mantle once in a while.
