afelder New member Aug 25, 2006 #4 It looks like a sponge to me. If it is turning brown it may be getting covered in algea.
J jimmyray New member Aug 25, 2006 #5 it's some sort of encrusting sponge. I have some on one of my powerheads. It's pretty much harmless, unless it is trying to cover something you like.
