Neptune AC II Controller. What 'accessories' do I need??

wonk

I'm in process of setting up my new inwall 120. Just got the EnvisionAcrylics tank yesterday (yay!).

I'm contemplating the the ACII controller instead of individual controllers for ORP, PH, and Temp. It seems cost-effective.

I'm a bit confused though on what I need to *really* operate my tank via this controller.

using Marinedepot.com as a guide I come up with

acII base: $230
orp probe: $70
temp probe $40
ph probe $60

for about $400 total.

What I'm curious about is this: how does the controller actually 'control' the devices it might turn on/off? It doesn't make sense to me how it can control the solinoid of a co2 tank AND turn on an ozonator. . .

since all my equipment that will be controlled is in the basement along w/ the controller, I don't think I need to get the direct connect power or report (x10) power doohickies?

confused! please help!

you will need a DC 8, that is the part that your equipment plugs into so it can be turned on and off. The DC8 then connects to the controller.

With out the DC 8 all you have is a monitor, not a controller. The DC 8 can only controll 6 amps of stuff. If you have High amp items, MH or Icap Ballasts you are also going to wat to get the DC4HD, that device will allow you to control 12 or 14 amps, if I remember. So you lights and are in the DC4HD and then your pumps, CO2, ORP, heaters, etc can be in the dc8.

with that combo you can control 12 items. lots of fun those controllers.
