Neptune Apex Junk

Wow so I just spent $600 to get an Apex and upgrades and I can't get it connected to Fusion after the first set up to save my life. Just spend all day working on it and I need to do a software update. Constant login failure. I guess lots of people have this problem and I didn't know it. I've tried calling and it Saturday so no answer and I've read and tried everything. Mac to router, Apex to router. No wireless. Even direct ethernet to the Apex. Nothing. Junk. If you can't make software that works then don't do it at all. I'm going to go run it over with my car. Thanks Neptune for wasting my time and money. I'm sure next week I'll get a call and get it figured out but right now... I'm hot. If you are planning on using Fusion I would reconsider.

You also might want to try posting on the Apex forum for a quicker response.

I don't see the point. I've tried all the things that other with the similar problem have tried. No dice. It worked just fine the first time I hooked it up about 10 days ago. Now they came out with an update like 2 days ago and now nothing. But I can't believe that they can't make a simple install or a simple update like every other company. I have never had to jump through so many hoops to hook something up. Ridiculous.

My first few weeks with mine was a 'hair puller' also. Good news is that it will pass and you'll be very happy with the $#%&*@# thing. I may simply have been lucky, but after procrastinating the software upgrade to fusion, it was a snap. Do engage with the forum, the folks there have been incalculably helpful to me.

Instructions from their forum.

Make sure you can access your controller via your home PC or Mac WITHOUT any wireless, either between your PC/MAC and your router or between your Apex and router. If you can't do that, you won't be able to update the web pages.

Why Not wireless? Is this a system made in 2015 or 1995?

Backup your program first. While the firmware update should not bother your program, it's better to be safe than sorry. Besides, you need a backup anyway. Use the 'Load/Save' web page to do this. NOTE: This is absolutely essential when you upgrade to 4.30. You CANNOT go back to 4.20 without initializing your controller. If you don't have a saved copy of your program, you have to re-enter everything by hand!

Use the 'Load/Save' web page. What web page? I can't connect to the Apex via Fusion so how the heck am I suppose to do that?

If you get 'timeout' errors or errors in copying web pages:

-Disable any anti-virus programs that are running and try again
-Ensure your IP address or hostname and port numbers are correct in the loader
-Ensure your userID and password is correct in the loader
-Restart your PC in 'Safe Mode with Networking' (Windows only) and try again
-If you have a switch in your home network, make sure your PC and your controller are both on the switch (vs. one on the switch and one on the router)
-Do you have other network devices on your home network - game consoles, video streaming, etc? Unplug them and try again.

"Ensure your IP address or hostname and post numbers are correct in the loader" What??? How the heck do I do that. Thanks Neptune for assuming I'm a programer and have any clue what you are talking about.

If you still have problems:

-Power OFF your controller including disconnecting any secondary power
-Start the firmware update
-Wait for the loader to 'timeout' once or twice
-Power up your controller
-This may take a couple of tries, just repeat the process starting with powering OFF the controller

So just keep plugging in and out until it works? Whoever programed this needs fired.

Still having trouble? Connect a laptop directly to your controller:

Yes still having problem and no this didn't work.

For starters

It has to be hardwired for the update to reduce risk of lost data during the setup to reduce brick in the apex. That's it.

The webpage you speak of is the fusion website on your PC.

If you do not know your ip address and ports, you will not get very far. Try whatsmyip.org. and your router settings for your port number

I wouldn't return your more than likely hostile and insulting email on a Saturday either. Just be patient and they will respond to you during normal hours during the work week.

It was hardwired. I can't use that website because I get a pop up that says my apex isn't connected. So it will not let me do anything. This is the original problem. It's connected physically but not showing.

I don't want to be hostile or insulting but when I spend this much I expect things to work and not have to spend hours troubleshooting.

Try this ....

Go to your apex display and get the IP address. Type that into your browser and see what you get. When I do that with mine I get the web display interface (not fusion). I forget what the default username and password are, but I think they're in the instructions somewhere. Once you have the non-fusion web display you can see the load/save tab; you can also see the fusion status, should say 'Fusion OK'.

I had a nightmare of a time getting it all to work and almost gave up and sold it. It's not a plug 'n play product. Once you get it ironed out though, and start using it, it's hard to imagine running a tank without one

Nope, doesn't open anything.

I agree I will love it once it gets going. I've been wanting one forever. But again, if Neptune can't make it plug and play then don't release it until it is. It's 2015, anything less is unacceptable.
