Neptune apex probe question

Is there an ideal depth or minimum depth for apex probes? Or is as long as the bottom of the probe covered ok? I am making a probe holder out of acrylic and I am about to glue it together and thought I should check first.

As long as the end of the probe is submerged, about 1.5 to 2 inches, you're good.

They tend to last longer if the wire end is not constantly in the water. I put the holder at 1/2" above the water line
