I need to pick up a new DC8 for my AC3 because with 8 plugs and 50x power strips hanging off it, I am sure I am going to burn my place down one day.

So here is the deal: I need a DC8, you need a AC3 Jr. because you want to upgrade and already have a DC8/X10 modules?? I will be picking up the combo because its much cheaper that way, and selling the actual controller off. So I will share some of the savings with somebody who wants to go in on it with me.

$125 and you got yourself a BRAND NEW AC3 Jr. shipped. Good deal, no? If you want the upgrades like serial connector, Ph probes, etc. you just pay for those and I can add it to the order. I am going to order one regardless, just thought it would be a good opportunity for whomever wants to pick up the controller to have me add the options you want.

you should edit your post to specify that it is an AC Jr or an AC3 . The last time I checked there was no such controller as an AC3 Jr

The DC8s are a weird animal. I cannot find them cheap anywhere no matter the qty, unless you buy them with a controller whch means either you have a bunch of x10s to use or know somebody wanting a later model. I am hoping the latter is what I find.

only dc8's i could find were $175. unless you buy w/controller then its about $75 - 80 which is why you are trying to do what your doing - right?

I am looking into the AC Jr with serial connection, when do you plan to buy? I still need some time to study it more don't want to hold you up.

Another thing is I don't know if I need a DC8 also. How many things can the AC Jr. handle before I will need the DC8?

Yep. approx $250 for the set when bought together. The controller is about 160 or so by itself, so we both save a little money at $125 per person. See? It all works out well! now who wants a new AC Jr.?

I will pull the trigger here soon one way or the other. If no local folks want to do it, I will buy them together just the same and eBay/dry goods forum the actual controller off.

BTW, the controller by itself is useless. You have to use some sort of programmable switches (like the DC8, X10 switches, etc.). Buying a controller and not having something it can actually control... well, I cannot see much value there.

Looks like they are 6 weeks out for another GB. I think I will pick up a couple sets for some of my systems that are not automated yet, and keep the one odd extra controller as a spare...or an Xmas ornament.
