Does anyone remember who that guy was? I got one of those kits, and I am LOVING it. I'd like to turn other people on to it as well.

That's them!
I got the hangar that reefdom was selling with the Mod kits. I can't tell you how much water I'm moving with my Maxijet now, but I know it's a heck of a lot more than it moved before the Mod.

although MJs are more dependable than a Seio for the $60 mod I could get an 820 and push twice the amount of water......how does it compare to it.....? might be worth it for dependablity if it pushes about the same amount of water...

Mike,
The Maxi Jet mod blows the sieo 820 away. The wave stream is wider and defiantly more powerful.

I agree, there's no contest.

thanks guys, you've made up my mind........I have the same four MJ1200s running for years w/o any problems just some cleaning once in awhile and the one Seio 820 I have although it seems to be stronger than the MJs needs alot more attention.

is that kit easy to install onto the mj1200? does it stick out too much? i want more flow but not have a bulky pump in the tank.

Installs in seconds, literally. It does add to the size of your Maxijet, but not too much. You remove the bottom of the Maxi, and turn the pump 90* then put the new shaft in, and lock the guard in place. I recommend buying the bracket to go with the mod, as suction cups just don't hold.

great thanks. im going to try the kit. i like the mj1200 bec its very liable. ive heard about this mod. but seemed to complicated to make myself and i like the fact that the company made it look very manufactured.

The PVC guard doesn't look too tough to copy, if you have the tools. I know I wouldn't be able to make it look as good though. The longer shaft is probably even more of a challenge.
I think the entire mod kit, including the bracket was $70.00. Not cheap, but you come out of it with a strong, reliable powerhead that offers a nice, wide stream.

can you take a pic of it in your tank if possible?

i would like to see it in use and have a reference for its size in a system.

tks

I have the MAG18 mod with a prop unit and it works great, word is there is a larger MAG in the works as well.
More power Scotty!!

can anyone post a pic of the attached mod. in use.

There is a picture in the begining of this thread scroll up.

Does anyone agree with them that this thing now pushes 1200-1800 gph?

I could see maybe double or triple the original, but do you really think it's pushing that much?

Not critisizing, just asking...they claim 1200-1800 on their website and just wondering.

I have 4 MJ1200's in my tank and would like to know about how many I should get? I have a 90 gal tank!

Thanx,

Jay

embryoguy,
I'm sorry. I saw your post, and started looking for my stupid camera. Along the way, I found a broken coffee mug, and started searching for the crazy glue to fix that. I didn't find the crazy glue, but I found that old Zippo lighter that I've been looking for. I filled it up with fluid, but it needed a flint. I went digging for flints, but before I found them, I found an overdue LIPA bill. I thought that should be paid, so I went searching for my checkbook..............
I still have not found my stupid digital camera, but I'll keep looking ;)
