I just hooked up my neptune apex to my network router. (apple airport
extreme) It sometimes get a ip sometimes not. I set it up to give the apex a
constant ip. That worked for 10min I could use the web interface no prob. It
soon dropped the network again. After that I am not able to ping or connect in
anyway to the apex unit.

PLEASE HELP THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY

Is the network connection losing link? (the green LED on the Apex base unit network port will be lit if there is an active link)

Is the Apex rebooting on it's own?

Try connecting the Apex to a different LAN port on the AirPort and see if the problem changes or goes away.

What is the DHCP lease time setting in the Airport? It typically is several hours or even may be up to a week - IIRC, on the Airport the default is 60 minutes. If setting is very short (like just a few minutes), this can confuse some connected devices.

The lease time is 4 hours and it doenst seem to be dropping physical connection(the green light) Just that I will be in the middle of editing something on the web interface, and it will stop responding.

Thanks for your help,
-Tim

EDIT: Also when I restart the unit it rarely picks up the network connection again. Even when I pull the USB out of it so it shuts down it doesn't pick it back up.

Is the controller rebooting? You can tell if it is by looking at the bottom of the status page. If it shows a power outage lasting about 36 seconds, then it is probably rebooting.

It doesn't seem to be rebooting. It shows one that happened at 9am it is now 1pm. Any other ideas?

EDIT: It does show it was only for 34 seconds. That could be a reason why it is dropping. Is there a way to fix this?

If the unit is rebooting, you have to figure out what is causing it.

Old firmware had some problems with that. Make sure your firmware is current and all your modules are current.

There are known problems if you use the default port 80 and your controller gets pinged from some outside source. Change your default port or disconnect your apex from the network for a day or two. See if the reboots stop.

Try to relate the reboot to something you might be doing on a particular web page. Could be a browser issue.

There might be other causes that others here might be able to add to.
