I traveled about an hour and a half the other day to a fish store and ended up getting some fish, any how i got a pakistan butterfly fish, in hopes he with be alright in my mix reef tank. This guy is tring to demolish my acans, brains, and whatever else is in the way:( I feel so ashamed at myself for taking the risk of even putting him in there. Now the hard mission of catching this guy.

If u guys have any idea on catching him id appreciate it, i put a open brain in a huge clear bottle in hopes ill get him that way.

Just a rant i guess:(

I have caught fish by making the room as dark as possible, I try to wait until after dark so its pitch black in the room, besides the tank lights. Get the brightest flash light you can find and have the net ready. Kill the tank lights and shine the flashlight into the tank, holding the beam right on the fish you are trying to catch. Usually they can not see the net coming and the ones I have caught this way have just frozen right there making them easy to catch. Good luck.

I'd try the bottle trap until it works lol.

Just an FYI. Any fish that is remotely considered, "reef safe with caution" will most assuredly eat acans. Apparently they are like natures candy for reef fish lol. I've seen tangs eat acans before haha.

I've just gone fishing. If none of the above work you could take a sharpened paper clip tied in a hook shape and catch him. Then I put them in the sump until they heal and are eating well again. The I either give them away to a fellow hobbyist or sell them. I've never lost a fish from doing this. As long as there is no barb on a hook I guess you could use that, but a sharpened paperclip does the trick. I caught a yellow tang, Sohal Tang, 3 Anthias, 4 chromis, a tuskfish, a Passer Angel, a sixline wrasse and a Regal Tang when I had an ich outbreak and had to get them in qt. No losses or damage to the mouth that prevented them from eating.

I've found the best way to catch them is in an acrylic box with a trap door. If you don't have one already, this may not be of much help however. You can also try to use 2 nets, or one net and a hand to try to scare the fish into an area that you can scoop him.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I've caught a problem fish before on a small fly fishing fly that looked alot like mysis, then I took him back to the store. he was fine.

A lot of times a good LFS will loan you a fish trap. I cought a cleaner wrasse with a two liter bottle trap before, but it was pure luck.

Good luck, I know watching a fish kill off corals is painfull.
