New 12K Reeflux ?

Don't know Jose. That price difference just seems too good to be true. I'd take a step back and see how AuroraDave's order goes.
 
Good call on waiting it out, How are the blues looking under the 12ks?
I see the pictures but im sure the white balance is off.
 
The first pic was way off but the second is better. Either doesn't even come close to real life. The blues are still great, maybe a bit lighter but the greens and reds much better. I couldn't be happier with the color. I was really surprised on the actinic pop the bulb brings out in corals.

I think when you come over you'll notice the difference walking down the hallway!

I'll post once I receive the bulbs. They were shipping from Ohio, so I will probably get them tonight.
I made sure they weren't knock-offs like ReefLucs :D

Nice score on those ridiculously underpriced lamps Dave. That cheaper than what most people can buy them wholesale for. I dont think that that price will last long. If it does, I will guess that reeflux lamps will be harder to find because many places will discontinue to stock them.
 
If it cost lets say $45.00 for a store to buy the bulb from the manufacturer and customers expect to buy it for $40.00, then why stock it?
 
does anyone know if the place is legit? i mean lots of things are a good 10-30% cheaper than anywhere else. Im hoping its good but would rather be safe so ill probably get my retro from a known vendor.
 
Do new bulbs run hotter than old bulbs? Since I've put the new bulbs in I'm noticing a big temp spike in the afternoon, 1.5 degrees hotter than normal.
 
I removed my 175 12K and replaced them with a new 250W 12 over our 75, what a difference in output. The tank looks sooo much brighter.
 
Pat do you remember the older bulbs doing the same when you first used them? maybe the new bulbs are doing this during burn in and will later stabilize?
I would think thats the case, no way that 12k bulbs are hotter than the 10k versions?
 
Maybe 12K new bulbs are hotter than 9 month old 10K bulbs? Not sure.

I started using these at the end of April so it was starting to heat up outside and I was new to the 400's so I expected a heat change in the tank. Not sure if it was the bulbs or . . . ?
 
I didnt get the shipment today, but I dont have a tracking number to confirm that it was coming. Usually Ohio to IL is 2 days, but this storm probably didnt help. We got over a foot of snow; and between the drifts and plows there is 2-1/2 feet at the end of my driveway

I'll followup tomorrow.
 
I have been told they can no longer buy the bulbs. So it will be hit or miss if they even have them on stock or not.

Just thought I would share. I ordered mine from Phishy Business. Good prices, great service.
 
The ReefLux bulbs are here and were packed well. They shipped DHL, not UPS or FedEx so they took an extra day.

I am pleased with the ALS purchase. Dave replied to my emails promptly, including my request for a tracking number this am. I will definately purchase from them again.
