When the lights were on at fisrt it was a nice crisp blue everywhere. But now there is a yellow, slightly cloudy tint.

-anyone know what is causing the yellow cloudy tint?

i also added some cycle to the tank and there is 150 lbs live rock that has been in large vats for a couple of days

The bulbs are most likely burning in. MH lights, especially those 10k and under burn into a yellow color that increases with age, Based on my experiences. I would have expected 15k to be more on the blue side though. Are you sure that you got the right bulbs with your order? I've had some miss shipments in the past.

As the tank is new, it could be any number of issues from water clarity causing the illusion of yellow to as said above, bulbs burning in. Many can take up to 100 hours to settle down.

More likely is just substrate and some organics floating around. They will subside as the bacteria population rises and congeals these solids so they sink or are consumed.

If in a week or 2 things are not better (taking into account your bulbs are 15K and should not be yellow) I would just run some carbon (I run 1lb at a time in my 125 in 4 bags) and that should help.

Can we see pics of your new setup? I am really interested in setting up a large cube and want some ideas :)

Nice setup and water does not look bad at all for new tank.

I can not see but if you do not have your remote catch for the skimmer in a pan, you should. I have a stainless pan under mine for leakage (also helps when you pull the reservoir as well, the cap will drip a bit normally

Try running some carbon to see if it helps. It may also be that you just need a bit of time for things to settle down.
