Ive been in this hobby for a few years but have never done an aggressive tank. Therefor I want to run my plans by some other people.

150g display, 29g sump for asm g3, 29g fuge w/ 4" dsb, 40g pool with about 55lbs lr, mag 18 (900gph), 2 tunze 6060, ozone, fluval w/ chem-pure

145lbs lr, 100lbs ls in display,

I might want to upgrade my lr pool to add another 45lbs. good idea????

Stock list, ( i will qt for 4 weeks, and only add one fish every 4-6 weeks)

1) Powder Blue, 4-6"
2) SFE
3) Domino, 4" (already have in another tank)
4)Stars and Stripes Puffer, 4-5"
5) Niger Trigger, 3-4"
6)Huma Huma Trigger, 3-4"
7) Clown Trigger, 3-4"

if the domino wont work out any suggestions???
I would like a lion, but worried about the tiggers picking on it :-(

thanks,

I will try and help out since no one else has yet. As far as up gradeing more rock into the pool i would add it to the tank and build more hideing spots for the fish and SFE. I would skip putting the clown trigger in the tank do to temperment and size. I had asked about putting triggers and lions in the same tank and was told the triggers will pick the fins of the loin. So skip putting the lion in also. Hope this helps.

To add a little to what Harley Dude said I would also skip the Clown trigger and the idea of a lion. The Clown trigger will get very large and it will NOT get along with the other 2 triggers you mentioned. The Huma might do fine with the rest of the fish but I would add it last.

- Should I just keep all 200lbs of lr in the display, and if I get more rock add it to the pool???
I just wanted to leave more room in the tank for the fish, but still have alot of lr in the system.

-Instead of a clown tigger is their any other triggers that will work? or could I add a large angle fish?

You can put it all in there if you like. I think all the fish you want to put in there like caves to go into so they have to be big enough to go into when they grow to adult size. IMO with the list of fish you have without the Angle fish you would be at max. But it does sound like you have a good filter system so it might be able to handle the bio load. Eels triggers and puffers are very messy eaters.

Yeah I think you would be close to your max with the fish listed above as they are all messy eaters and produce a lot of waste.

Whats the purpose of the pool? Was it to add more water volume to the system? I would say can the pool and add the extra rock in the display. I have a 135g tank with about 200lbs of rock in it and there is more than enough room for fish to swimm around.

The pool was for 2 reasons. One to add more water, and two to have more lr. This way I could have alot more room in the tank, but still have alot of lr in the total system.

Eventually the clown and niger triggers, as well as the puffer, will get too large for this tank. The only other "small" triggers are either close relatives to the Picasso (probably not a good idea), or a Bluechin, which is an open-water trigger and needs too much swimming room, or an Undulated, which usually acts like an axe murderer with fins. So perhaps a dogface or panda puffer instead, or a small hogfish.

And yes, skip the lion. Triggers and sometimes puffers pick on their fins. If you like morays, you could add a jewel moray, which maxes out at 24", or a green wolf "eel", which is actually an eel-shaped dottyback that gets only 18". Either would likely get along with your snowflake. (just pick 2 of these, not all three).

Otherwise this is a decent list. If you skipped the domino, you could put a small grouper in there like a grammistes sexlineatus soapfish - a usually pleasant fish that maxes at about 10". It's only drawback is its ability to eat fish nearly its own size though, so keep that in mind. Make it the smallest fish in the tank.

Best of luck!

I know this doesnt sound real, but it is...

In about 1-2 years im building my new house and I plan on putting in a 900-1000g tank. I've already bought the property and been approved on all the fiances for the house, and the loan has the cost of the tank figured in. The people at the bank raised an eyebrow on the cost of a 1000g tank, lol

So my question is will these fish I've selected be ok till then???

Yes, they should be fine for 2 years, with the exception of three triggers in the tank. The fish you have chosen are still quite small. I would remove one of the triggers to minimize the threat of aggression.
