New 190 Build

I am lucky with the stand because my one of my husbands co workers also is a welder. Our stand is gonna be a stand/canopy all in one piece powder-coated metal stand. The metal os costing us $400 and the Maple 1x3's and maple plywood to make the skin is close to $600 and my husbands doing it himself. The stand will be 48" tall :) hehe. The bottom of the tank will be 4' off the ground and the top will be 6' off the ground.

sounds cool!

I hope I don't regret my decision to go with a lower stand. the main reason is that the tank is in my dining room, and will mostly just have a few low chairs. I wanted the tank basically centered at eye level when seated rather than standing.

its actually a 33" high stand, but the tank is submerged 2", so the tank is at 31". being a 30" tall tank means the final height is 61", or a little over 5'.

nice.

i have a barstool style table in the kitchen nook next to my 20G freshwater planted tank. that tank is really low (like 25") so its always ackward to try and look at it from so high lol. i'm glad you thought of it :D

me either; i dont really know how to take proper care of different plants, so its pretty much survival of the fittest in there. the teardrop and the hornwort thrive with no care so thats all thats left lol

I feel your pain on that...I am finishing up my stand and my initial thoughts were to be able to view it while we were sitting down in the living room.

But this past week I stopped by someone's house with same size as I will have (220 also) and his is sitting pretty high. And it was nice to be able to look at everything standing straight up. I am 6 feet tall and having a tank down low to where I have to bend over to view it is going to get old quick...LOL...

I guess I will just have to get me a new chair and place it next to the tank, so I can relax.

lol Not sayin anything wrong with the whole planted tank lol just saying dont get it ;)

I DID NOT want the higher tank my husband put his foot down (meaning while I was at work he built the stand his way anyway lol) And I have to say I love it. Our 120 right now is 47" so were just goin wit that extra inch for the hell of it

two sides to the coin...it's one thing I didn't have any choice about in my install, and because I am 6' tall I have to bend down when I am close to the tank. I just didn't have the overhead room to make it any higher.

But the higher you go, the more difficult it is to keep clean.

Ok about the the bicycle device to lower and raise the lights I dont know what you are talking about. Any links to show me ?

TIA

Glad to hear you are getting a larger tank. By the way did you buy the KZ Revolution S yet? Also what are you doing for flow?
