I just bought a used 20 gallon long, wiht livestock which included: 1 false perc clown, bta that it hosts in, small frogspawn, orange center/green skirt zoos, pink center zoos, toadstool leather, few stalks of xenia, medium finger leather,10 or so head candy cane, and a few others.
I know nothing about maintaining a reef tank. What do I need to know. The zoos were open yesterday, but this morning when the lights came on they were closed. Do they normally close at night?

I have reef solution, and buffer. I heard the reef solution was very good. It was $25 for a 16 oz bottle. Anyone used it? Should I pick up some calcium too??

Could you tell me what light you have over it. Im taking down an aggresive FW 20L tank, moving them to a 40 Breeder and thinking about doing a nano in my 20L. I just nee to know what light to use then I think Im going to mod it so it has built in overflows in the back and hopefully look pretty nice.

what type of filtration are you using? sump? hang on? powerheads? i ask because i'm gonna get a 20 or 30 long and i dont want to run a sump

for a 20 long, you can use either lots of LR and LS, a powerhead, powerfilter, aquaclear is the most common, and a good cleaner crew. but doing a water change at least 20% atleast once a week is recomended. if you use a sump as your primary filter, a powerhead, good cleaner crew, you will cut the work you have to put in in half.

i have a 10g. with 27-30 lbs live rock, 2 turbo snails, 3 nassarius snails, a clownfish, yellow tail damsel and a lawnmower blenny. i use a powerfilter and a power head but i do water changes every weekend. i have about 8 colonies of zoas, a 2 head candycane, pom pom xiena and mushrooms and i dont dose with anything excet phytoplex and microvert once a week and they are growning fine. the xiena is branching off and growing, the zoas or spreading alil and the candycane i just got yestuday. but everything is open and healthy. i forget the name of the light i have, but it have a 10,000k daylight and a full atinic and the math comes down to 7.8watts per gallon. ill find out the light and post it tomorrow if that helps anyone....
