It's been quite a while since I updated my post... not too much has happened over the past couple of months. I have been adding fish to my system including a pair of japanese swallowtail angels, a pair of bellus angels, an african equisite wrasse, and a pink-tail trigger, who is currently in quarentine.
However, yesterday I installed my new Aqua-Illumination 72" LED fixture!! (Merry Christmas to me!!) I purchased through reefgeek.com, with an excellent experience. I received the lights in about 2-3 days, and the support rails 2 days later. It took a couple hours to build (I needed to shorten the support rails by a couple inches, to work with my canopy). When I powered it up, it was set at 30% white/ 20% blue max intensity and is already brighter than the PC fixtures I was using! I took some par measurements with the old fixtures and will hopefully take some with the new fixture today. I plan to slowly ramp up the light to 100% over the next few weeks. I will post my par results. I don't have much in the way of coral growing right now, so I can't provide direct observations regarding coral growth or lack thereof.
So far though, I love the system! Virtually no heat, very quiet, low power consumption, high build quality, and brighter lights than what I'm used to! The controller is easy to use, and setup was a breeze.
I will try to post photos soon with the fixture in place.
