New 24g Aquapod, anything that I need to do?

This is my first small aquarium, but my second aquarium. I have one set up at school (a 75 gal). Anyway, I bought the aquapod from a local dealer in town on March 17 and set it up a couple days later. In the aquarium now, I have:
15 lbs Live Rock
20 lbs Aragonite
100W Heater
Current Fission Nano Protein Skimmer
the sponge and Bio-Balls that came with the Aquapod, I took out the ceramic bio-rings because the directions said that they cause high nitrates

If anyone has suggestions for me I would be happy to hear them!

Not all of these fish will make it in but these are the ones that have caught my eye.

1 Magenta Dottyback
1 Yellow Assessor
1 Dusky Angelfish
2 Percula Clownfish
1 Yellow Clown Goby
1 Cleaner Shrimp
some snails and crabs
and some corals but I haven't really looked at what kinds yet

sounds like a good plan

Cool. So with those fish should I do any thing to the tank, I've read about heat problems (my max. temp is about 80 degrees), so maybe a small chiller like the ICA chiller. Any information, suggestions, and any problems that they have encountered to help my tank (and me) survive.

Thanks,
Max

As far as the Pod goes, I removed the stock return pump and replaced it with a Maxijet 900(runs cooler), my tank runs between 79.4 and 82 so it's not that bad. Modding in a chiller will be a pain in the neck because the hood lies really close to the water level. I'm not a fan of the Fission but some people said they got theirs to work well.

good luck

nope, no skimmer, I'm doing weekly 10% water changes, I buy 3 gallons a week for 3 bucks at my LFS.

you should switch out your stock fans for two 60mm Vantecs. you can pick them up at any computer store. Two fans will help keep the heat down.

More questions about the protein skimmer.

More questions about the protein skimmer.

Okay, upgrade the pump and replace the fan, but about the protein skimmer, it's putting a lot of bubbles into the tank anyone have the same problem?

do a search for the screenname "petermai", he did some modding and posted what he did in the nano forums.

Take it out if you do water changes weekly a skimmer is not going to help the tank. It may even take out more then what you want to remove. I have a ten gal and no skimmer or filter I do a 10% water change weekly tank is doing great. Think about taking it out. just my 2 cents.

I have the same issue with my Fission, it puts a LOT of little bubbles into the tank and isnt' taking out anything, of course I'm still cycling so I don't WANT it to remove...but that's just me.

What Ceramic ring aer you referring to? I didn't see one in my pod when I set up

The rings were under the two sponge sections. I had no idea they were in there until I downloaded another manual from Current. I'd post the link but current's web site is messed up right now.
