New 30 gallon rimless build for my office

I haven't tried that yet. I think first I will need to replace the two stock pumps with a MaxiJet (Maybe a 1200?) and run a Y off it to the two returns. That will free up room for the protein skimmer. I'm getting OK skimmate, but it's more of a light tea color. But the water is pretty clean as I'm changing 5 gallons a week and there are only 3 fish it it. There is zero algae in this tank, jsut fighting some diatoms. Could just be the new tank progressing as it's only 6 months old. I think they are slowly vanishing though.

I have done the single return pump with a Y - it works well. I am that is disappointed with the 9004 at the moment that I am thinking about going fuge on both drains. I probably wont, but this skimmer seems to draw very little. We have nearly identical setups by the way. Yours is looking great. I look forward to the updates./

Glad to hear you added the MP10. With 500GPH on a 30G tank, I think your flow was way too low and almost certainly contributed to your cyano problems.

That's only 16X turnover, which isn't bad but I think is very low in a system with no flow concerns other than 3 fish and the sand bed.

After a few days running the MP10, the cyano is totally gone. I still do have some brown on the sand that is pretty crusty. Pretty sure it's diatoms. Even that seems to be waning though. I was going to rake it up and out, but now I'm going to leave it because if it goes away on its own I can be reasonably sure I've beat it. Love the MP10! It is completely silent and even the water in my tank seems clearer now.

Pompeyjohn I haven't gotten around to moving the skimmer yet. I need a new return pump first and also a little concerned about micro-bubbles from running that 9004 in the same chamber as the return. Only one way to find out I guess.

I find a more frequent water changes and more flow will help cure red slime algae. I am really happy with my ocean revive light. My SPS are growing really well! They look slightly better under a Radion but for the 3x the price I don't think it's worth it. The tank is looking good! I'm about to get my 40 breeder setup this week.

Finally got a few corals started. Got a nice big torch frag, 3 different zoas and a GSP. Torch is glued in, the others I'll see where they're happiest and will glue them in a couple days.

I seriously need a better camera for tank shots :)

Torch seems to be doing awesome a day later. Same with GSP after it was just fragged yesterday.

Keep an eye on the GSP it will spread like a weed and takeover everything. My tiny frag took over a very large piece of rock in only a few months. Obviously you can always frag it! The tank is looking good tho

Thanks man. Yeah I won't let it get out of hand. I had to move my torch lower in the tank...to much flow up top. Zoas seem to do well no matter where I tried them. Ready for more now. Got all my tests and supplements to get my Alk and Calc up. Both are too low. Once I get them where they need to be ill start dosing Kalk in my ATO.

I love the torch, for some reason I picked up a Hammer thinking it was torch a few months ago at my LFS. I had a brain fart, but now with my 40 I am going to pick up a frag of torch soon.

Enjoying your thread Jandawil! Any updates?

Could you post some additional close-ups of the adjustable (up/down) part of your lighting mount please? A description of how the height is adjusted would be great also.

Thanks.
