New 40g tank moving along

I have everything going and just waiting for the cycle to start. Just thought I would share info and a pic of it. Still have to finish the stand and get some wires hidden.

40g breeder with 50lbs sand, 35+lb dry rock, 3lb live rock.
Did my first testing today:
Amm: .5ppm
PH: 8.2
SG: 1.020 (hyrdometer)

I have a 125w Jager heater set on 82 degrees. My therm is on the opposite side of the tank but it's only reading 78 degrees for two days now. Any suggestions on heater placement or is 125w not big enough?

Looks really good. Look into getting a surface skimmer, they are like $10-$15 online-lfs. Will help a lot with your surface movement and they attach right up to the hob aqua clear you have.. Also maybe look into a hob skimmer, nothing crazy but will help when you get more bio load. Another power head down the road to keep sand cleared, cut down on dead/low water flow areas for detritus to sink. 1.020 is a bit low when getting into corals and such. Most fish stores keep displays around there, but for reef go to 1.023 or 024. What light are you on?

Very nice job, I really like the clean and simple look. Thinking about coral yet? ;)

I want to eventually add coral. I want to let the tank mature a little and get some new equipment like a skimmer and high output leds.

Looking into new equipment here shortly. That first post was when I first set it up, it's sitting at a steady 1.025 now.

looks like either a purple dottyback or black cap basslet and a pair of Ocellaris clowns.

I'm just going by what I'm seeing there could be more life in there...

You were right with the dottyback and clowns. Look real close at the center rock and you will see my bi-color blenny poking his goofy little head out. I also have two nassarius snails buried in the sand somewhere.

This was my live rock seed. It has quite a bit of coralline growing on it now. I can tell where it is starting on almost every rock in the tank too. I just realized why the flow is down. My hydor nano is definitely not moving water like it did when new. Might have to look at replacing it or upgrading.

A pic of my blenny, he gets white when he is flustered. :D the phot resoluation goes down a lot when uploaded to photobucket.
