New 6045 less flow than my 6025?

Just put my 6045 in the tank and it looks and feels like if not less flow then my 6025 on the other side of tank. I am very disappointed with the flow of this thing. Does anybody else have a 6045 and a 6025? Does this thing have to break in?

I did notice that my 6025 was running stronger the second day, the first day it was really weak, but the next day it felt much stronger. I don't know if 6045s are the same way, but I have one of those on the way and I'll try to remember to report back.

I just turned it back on and it ran backwards for about 30 seconds. Roger is this normal? I really like my 6025's and had to send the first one of those back, but the new ones are really working great. Roger when you put your hand in front of a 6045 and then to a 6025 do you feel a noticable difference? BTW the customer service was really great when I sent back the first one. He sent me a new one back the same day he recieved it. Thanks Roger.

Update: When I plug it in it runs backwards, I let it run for 5 min. and then shut it off because I did not want to damage it. When it is running forwards it is very weak. Should I send this back Roger? If so I need the address again.

That is strange, the 6045 works a bit differently from the 6025, it has a stop it hits to correct its rotation. I am not sure what could cause this, did you try opening it to look for anything obvious? The flow is difficult to jusge with your hands the best way is to see the carry of the flow in the tank a 6045 should give flow further away.

I just took it apart and did not find anything obvious. It is starting up a little better, about 45 seconds most times. As far as the flow, I shut off the main pump so the only thing on was the 6045 and checked the flow with my hand and visually. I then turned on the 6025 and did the same thing. The 6025 feels stronger then the 6045 but the flow on the 6045 goes a little further, but not what I was expecting. I guess I was expecting about twice the flow, because thats what the specs say, but just got a little more.

It should be about 50% more reach in flow, but the flow should be about double in volume. We test them by putting a pipe on them and placing them on a slight incline and pumping water into a bag, timing it, and wighing the bag to get the volume and then calculating it out. Is it still making noise or running backwards? It may be slipping and not running at it's full potential.

It only makes noise when you first start it up and then finally starts in the right direction. Sometimes it just starts in the right direction. How can it slip? Do you mean by "not running at full potential" that it's running backwards? Its not running backwards except on start up then corrects itself.

Then that is normal. I thought maybe the shaft was slipping and robbing some of the power. They can start backwards, traditional impeller pumps spin both directions without issue and the need to only spin one way is what makes prop pumps complicated. The pump has a correction mechanism but this takes some time and it may run backwards a few times before it gets set right.

I turned it on this morning and it ran backwards for 15 min. then corrected. I then turned it back on and it ran backwards for 10. min. then corrected. Is this to be expected? I really want to put it on a timer for a morning start up but I still don't trust it enough to do that. I'm afraid it might run backwards all day while I'm at work and hurt itself. I say this because when it is runing backwards its prop is clicking against the stop.

Something is wrong, it should not turn backwards more than 20 seconds at most, that was the limit we set in our voltage range tests. I can get you a UPS tag to return it, send me a PM. Do you notice anything obvious like a damaged prop blade?
