I like the minimalist look with no cabinets. Aren't you worried about getting burnt by the lights? Or do you have it setup to lower closer to tank? They look to be quite a ways up. Awesome setup btw.

sorry...meant Tony...lol. I had a good conversation with tony on Thursday.

Hope he was OK with me mentioning him. I didn't talk to him about this thread. He does tanks and a lot of sumps but it isn't there primary business. He has a big tank he built for himself. Known him for more than 10yrs. Good guy.

Oh yeah he was totally fine with it! When I told him the size I wanted he wanted to know why I didn't want to bigger....lol. He told me all about his tank....sounds amazing.

Maybe a little, yes they can be adjusted up or down about a foot with a little effort. They also can be adjusted down, seperate white and blues, with their intensity.

A little update, the tank is now filled and running. Salt has been added too. Will be adding a few damsels along with some "squeezings" from a friends dirty filter pad to kick start things a little bit. Just wanted to wait until I had my fill station completed before adding animals. Going to take this slow. I have a 13" Vlaminghi tang from my last tank that is being kept for me until things are ready for her.

Question for you guys? I have a CAD Lights conical shaped bio-reactor.http://www.cadlights.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=51&products_id=254 What type of media should I use in this for my cube reef? Input is welcome.

thanks everyone

Dr. Tims Pearls or Warner Marine bio pellets. I have read great results from other users on different forums.

That is so sweet. Whats ur fish list like?

Thanks. To be honest im not quite sure. My last was fish only so my likes in species will have to change a little. Ive always thought butterflies were great but most arent reef compatible. Probably a few tangs. I love big fish so want to have a couple angels again. I had quite a few "show-size" fish before but unfortunately when they were moved they all forgot who was in charge and beat the hell out of each other. I had an annularus and maculosus that were both 10". Had a 9" tennenti tang with long streamers which I would like to replace. What a pretty fish. Out of 17 only four survived. Two were black-back butterflies and a large coris wrasse which obviously cant go. My big girl Vlaminghi will be the only transplant.

My tastes are a little different than most. Would like to have some different stuff. I intentionally left alot of open sand not only for larger fish to have room but perhaps some interesting sand dwellers. May try a colony of garden eels. I can see the rocky areas for small fish like blennys, anthias, and dottybacks. Have the big guys swimming between open areas and have the little guys dart in and out of the rocks as they go by.

Its going to be alot of work over the next year or two but really looking forward to having corals this time. No more dead rock for me.
Patience patience patience.
