Hello reefers,
It's been a long time coming but im finally ready to start sharing my tank. I've had several reef tanks in the past, but sold them in 2010. In 2014, I enrolled in nursing school and thought it would be a great idea to have something relaxing to look at.

Here's a video of my old tanks

Now I have a question, the day before I put in my protein skimmer my ammonia read 0.25. Today, after 3 days of the protein skimmer being in the sump, ammonia is now reading 0. Has my tank gone through its cycle? Keep in mind I don't fave any fish just a small piece of live rock and algae in my refugium.
This is what it has pulled

Nice start! I think with so little die off you would be well served to add either a couple of dead raw shrimps or some pure ammonia to raise your ammonia levels to 2ppm. Use pure ammonia without surfactants (available at most hardware stores, I got mine at Ace Hardware). To be sure the ammonia does not contain surfactants shake the bottle and if it bubbles up like dish soap it has surfactants in it, pure ammonia will not have bubbles. To raise 100 gallons of water from 0 to 2 ppm ammonia you would need to add 0.8 grams (8 ml) of standard 10% pure ammonia. I think with the low ammonia level you had, you could get another cycle when you add fish since there will only be a very small bacteria population.

what he said. you need to raise the ammonia to 2 at least. make sure you test regularly and see rises in nitrites and nitrates. when ammonia and nitrites are 0, and nitrates are up, your tank should be good to go. I don't think your tank is cycled. I usually don't run lights or skimmer when cycling my tanks. also do a WC after it is cycled.

Cool, thanks alot didnt know it had to get that high. Will biozyme work?
And this is what my tank is reading now.

Its an API Master Test Kit.

I am in love with your rock work! Im upgrading to a 65 gallon and I do believe Im going to try and copy your work here. Just beautiful!

very nice
Chromis fishes are very hard to keep.

I have the same two that I used to cycle my tank with! They have doubled in size. Both have taken multiple trips down the overflow to the sump. Makes me believe they kinda enjoy it!
So I would consider they quite hardy fishes.
