New 9010 Skimmer, What did I do?

I just picked up my 9010 and am cycling my live rock with it, this started about 3 days ago.

I am using the intank configuration (although its in a sump) I dialed it in and every 8 hours or so I would increase the air mixture due to the lighter load of bubbles, I assume this is because of the break in period.

I had a half a cup of skimmate and decided to clean it out. I was pleased to see the skimmate was light chocolate in color and getting darker as time went on.

I cleaned the collection cup, lowered the salinity from 1.026 to 1.024 and moved some powerheads to kick up detritus and dead material.

Now there is no foam at all. I played with the venturi valve with no success. I checked the air line inside and see no issues, the connections seem good. What could I have done? Could the water tension change that much to create this problem?

Thanks in advance.

I would think the change is salinity as well as the detirtus caused this, it is very common for such changes to interrupt skimming for up to a few days.

I reseated the bottom plate and played with the depth of the skimmer and the bubbles started building up just like it did when I took it out of the box. I also found a little bit of water in the venturi as well.

The quality and quantity of skimmate did change.

Next time I will leave well enough alone, just enoying the new toy :)
