so i just got a new acro frag. this thing was beautiful, but it's looking like a goner now. 3 hours ago this thing had all of it's flesh on it, i turn around and see this. looks like RTN. SG is at 1.027, temp at 79, cal 420, alk 11, mag 1300. I had a ton of flow on this guy too. in my 10 gallon tank, i have the ecoxotic actinic 25 watt led system, along with a 10k t8 18 watt bulb. Anyone have any advise?

Maybe it just did not like the move or maybe it was to close to the hammer coral in the back, there is a lot of reasons why would an sps coral die like that, so to point out just one would be really hard

Not to criticize but Acros and t8s do not mix. T5 minimum. My opinion. Also you need a bigger tank for stability. Any swing will kill acros such as Alk, nitrate, calc, ph,temp or God forbid nitrite or Ammonia. It is easy to get all of the above in a 10 gallon tank. Also, trying to mix softies, lps, and sps in such a small tank is asking for trouble. Your toadstole in back is droopy and the frogspawn has little polyp extension. Suggest running carbon and multiple wcs. salinity is on the high range and any evaporation you are now 1.3 easy.

Lights was not the issue in this case, imo. It happened waaaay to fast according to the OP.
A 10 gallon with an ecoxotic LED should be fine as long as the acro is under it long turn, imo as well however.

Anyways, if you haven't fragged it, I would do so asap. Frag the RTN top portion off along with some of the 'good flesh.' This is your best chance, but in no way does it work 100% of the time (it seems to only work for me about 25% of the time, unfortunately...).
Next time I would take a closer look at the alkalinity of the tank it comes from. IMO, the most likely cause is 1.) the coral was already stressed at the store and 2.) your tank had a lot higher alkalinity than that of the tank it came from leading to the quick RTN 'burn'

Thanks for the help guys. I woke up this morning and about 75% of the thing was gone. I tried fragging it, it basically fell apart lol. Kinda sad, but ill get my frags from vivid aquariums from now on. Cant beat that 7 day guarantee they have.

I honestly dont know if it was from my tank or not, but this particular frag might have already been stressed at the store.
