New addition

+1 of the rearranging rockwork with lights off... if you want to catch the BPT in your large tank its going to be really really hard...

Possible idea is too try to close down on him, get a divider and get him into maybe 1/4 to 1/5 or less of the tank and and use small sticks or the back of your net to scare them out and take out some rocks just in case (or move the rocks to the other side)...Then put it in your refuge if you have one or in QT for 2 days. In the mean while release the blueface and let him get some territory and then put the BPT in after the 2 days.

I already caught the pbt. He's swimming in my fuge as I type this. Rearranging the rock would of never worked. The entire tank was his territory. I didn't want to have the same problem with every new fish. This tank is a new 220 & I have alot more angels I want to add.

The mirror method has worked for me with my Achilles. He can be a brute at times, especially to new additions. But after a couple of days of the mirror, he seems to forget about the other fish.

I agree, the mirror works everytime. The fish would rather go after it's own kind then something different. Mirrors are good to use as traps and distractions from new fish. I'd try putting the powder blue back in once the blueface has established a territory.

You have a really nice PBT there. Try to rearrange the LR's then add the PBT after a couple of months. It worked for me. The PBT would be in a new environment because of the rearranged LR's. IMO.

You should have gotten a bigger Blueface. Lesley

I'd rather watch the transition from juvi to adult first hand.

Large angelfish grow maybe an inch a year so it will be very slow to wait for a juvi to grow. Lesley

I know. I didn't say it would be very fast. You would be surprised how fast some juvi's change to their adult colors especially a blueface. Majestics and Asfurs are rarely seen as juvi's. I seen specimans of both only a 1 1/2" - 2" long with full adult colors.

The blueface is now swimming in the 220 & loving it. I also just added a male blue throat trigger with the cash from the sale of the pbt. I'll try & get some updated pics of the new fish.

Here's some updated pics of the blue face. You can see his battle wound fron the pbt's scalpels in the one pic. The blue throat is still to shy to get a decent pic.

I think the blueface will change quicker then you know. Like stated before, you very rarely see them in juvi forms. Yours is already is starting to change. Love the idol, do you have any shots of the new trigger? Please keep an update on your changing blueface, I love seeing angels go through the transformation.

I finally got some pics of the new male blue throat. He really only comes out when I feed. I know that it will take some time for him to be bolder.

Oh yeah, welcome to RC, where you can't cuss or get too heated...otherwise they ban you.

Blface, mind if I post a before/after of about 1 year with my juvi blueface?

Go ahead & post away. I'm always happy to see any pics of a blueface. I had one for over 7 years that went from juvi to almost adult but back to almost juvi to finally a full adult. This was before digital cameras. I did have a record of this on film but the wife miss placed them & I haven't been able to find them for years now. It was really cool seeing a 4" almost full juvi blueface.

that is a gorgeous fish! both as a juv and an adult!

they get huge, right? I'd love to add one to my tank, with my emperor, if there was a chance they'd get along. probably not a good idea, but man, what a tempting angel!
