just got a new trigger from online and when I opened the bag he was floating but alive. so I acclimated him and I feel like he has air in him or something because when he does try to swim he stays down but when he stops he floats to the top. or he just floats on his side at the top of the tank. could it be a swim bladder problem?
I did get him to eat some PE miyse by holding him and shooting it into his mouth hoping it will just pass but I don't know. he has been like this sense I got him around 12 this morning. any ideas I have been looking for this fish for abut 6 mouths and would hate to loose him. also he is a black durgun trigger if that make a difference

Id wait for a few days. If the fish swallowed air it may pass in a day (so maybe by now) if its a ruptured swim bladder or gas formed in the coelom (body cavity) from some disease process( metabolic like gas release from circulation from metabolic acidosis, or maybe bacterial like an anaerobic or fermenting bacteria) consider using a tuberculin syringe (available at cvs) and lancing the gas out and then keeping the fish in an antibiotic bath for a few weeks. Usually I like gram negative drugs like kanamycin (seachems kanacyn) or general abx like tmp sulfa or nitrofurazon however I've had a lot of luck using erythromycin, a macrolide more gram positive spectrum antibiotic not usually used in fish except for to kill cyanobacteria (red slime algae), for dropsy and popeye type disease in ornamentals. Maybe try maracyn (erythro) and maracyn 2( minocycline (a tetracycline with good absorption and broad spectrum) which I think are available at petco/petsmart. I usually don't recommend these ones but for your case it might be a good idea.
