New black onyx not eating

I picked up this little guy on Saturday and he hasn't eaten at all. I've tried mysis and cyclopeeze and he'll just mouth it and spit it right out. I haven't tried brine yet but I might have to.

Is he just trying to get settled in? What should I do?

I'd hate to lose him because I paid a pretty penny for it and it's adorable. It's about as big as an astrea but already has full black markings. I'll take a pic tomorrow.

Thanks

my one perc only will eat pellets.. i jus got another at the same lfs and he will only eat brine shrimp.. maybe you just have to find the right food. if that doenst work try soaking pellets or the shrimp in garlic for added flavor.. most fish love it.

find out what the lfs fed him and get the same thing for now.

when i buy a new clown i always make sure i use the same food the lfs uses alteast for the acclimation process into its new environment.

No fair. If you start a thread about an onyx you MUST include pictures. It's in the constitution...

my Onyx clowns will eat just about anything, but for dry food they love Spectra-Thera A, I believe thats the correct spelling. My Tang, Chromis and angel fish all gobble it down as well.

I knew I would get flamed for that!:)

I'll have pics up by tonight. You have my word!

Alright, I told you I'd have pics so here they are, although not the greatest quality.

Like I said previously, this guys is tiny but still has his black markings like an adult.

Him and his new buddy.

This shows his size. The astrea in this photo is not even as big as a nickel.

I called the lfs I bought him from and they told me they fed ON formula 1 pellets. I went and picked some up and he still didn't eat. How worried should I be? Today was the 3rd day I've had him.

Saturday to Wednesday is pretty long. I'd pick up the live brine ASAP if he were mine. I know he's in a pretty big tank with a lot of rock but you might also consider dropping in a couple PVC Tees. A lot of clowns are grown out in PVC Tees and he might be more comfy there.

I'm sure he'll be fine, he looks like he isn't exactly starving but let's get him eating as soon as possible. Since he's so small he doesn't have as much reserve as a larger fish would.
