new blood shrimp

the blood shrimp i got saturday looked great! he faced off against a peppermint shrimp twice his size for the 'alpha shrimp' job and since the pep walked away, i think he won it. unfortunately, i havent seen him since except for a flash here and there when the lights come on--i expected that, so no problems there.

I did find his perfect exoskeleton this morning, which tells me i didnt acclimate him well enough saturday. with over a dozen non-hermit crabs and snails in there, it seems somebody molts every 5 days.

here's the question:
should i be adding iodine supplement?

I would not add iodine without measuring the level first. If the test indicate a level below natural sea water level, you might consider adding just a tiny bit (and test again.) Salt mix should have enough iodine for your shrimp and crabs. I don't add any iodine to my tanks, but all my shrimp and crabs have been doing well. They probably get enough iodine from what they eat.
