New blue gig

It could be that it doesn't like its place in the new tank. Before I had it straight under a Kessil A360NE at only 8 inch below the water surface and only 15 inch total from the LED.
Now it's on the bottom, about 20 inch from the surface and also not straight below the LED (same as before). So it may want more light.

It could also be the flow. The new tank is set up for high flow SPS. The place I have it now is the point with the lowest flow, but it's still quite a bit during the peak flow periods.

This would be my guess too. It doesn't look like a sick gig to me, looks like a protester. I'd guess mine would deflate from that lower flow alone too. That's quite a light cut, IMO. Just my guess. Maybe pull those clowns until it starts acting normal? Good luck what ever you decide to do.

If you have the room, I would at least isolate him.
Trust yourself. You are the one with all the risk, with your beautiful anemones, and you are the one that see him from day to day.
Most of my Gigantea seem to like more flow that what you have him under (judging from watching your video). I do know that there is a Gigantea at Waikiki aquarium that have almost no flow and doing very well for very long term.

The other gig in the system is doing fine (and it wasn't babied at all the last few months) and so does the Maxi Mini. So I'm wondering if this was just a reaction to the reduced light and the bombardment with silt in the place it was sitting. Though as sand dwellers I would expect gigs to be able to handle silt being thrown onto them.

I moved it for now into the 18" cube where it has better light and gentler flow.

If it doesn't stabilize there I probably have to set up another QT for treatment.

Well, it's hard to see because of its long tentacles, but it has a bit of a open mouth, not gaping but open. Otherwise it got big again today, but not as much inflated as it could. I will watch closely how it develops in the 18" cube to see if it needs treatment or not.

I still wonder from where it could have contracted an infection.

That insane pipefish female almost dove into the anemone while going after a Mysis shrimp - female bluestripes are sometimes a bit too gutsy.

BTW, this is my 3rd purple gig under MarsAqua 165W LEDs in a 10 gallon QT

It seems it really likes the light. I will probably get those for some of my other anemones too.

Seems it was largely not enough light and too much flow, which makes me question if this one will be right for a rather high flow SPS tank...
My second purple gig seemed to get along with less light and with its shorter tentacles it may handle the flow better as well...
The other option for that tank might be the purple crispa - they are found in high flow reef areas... but get monsters and are known to move around ...

Came home today and it had deflated again ... :headwally:

I guess it will need treatment ... again ... :headwalls:

This will make for a very unhappy pair of percula and a quite desperate pair of anemone crabs.

Moreover, where to treat it in ... all QTs I can put up right now are full with fish and other gigs (and adding any more tanks will get me to sleep with the raccoons in the backyard).

And what to do with the other so far healthy (and never treated) gig in the same system?

In a healthy DT, and if you catch infection early, these disease does not seem to be really contagious. Isolate him and the other Gigantea should be OK. Unless you see that the other anemones deflates, I would not treat them.
Time to put two anemones in one QT or treatment tank at the same time. I only have 1 QT and 1 HT so often the QT or TT have more than one anemone in them.
