New Blue Haddoni

I can't believe I've had to wait till now to share my news. I received a blue haddoni today.

The thing that blew me away was that it was dry shipped. I thought the water drained, but apparently Anthony Calfo recommends dry shipping haddoni's. That was they can expel waist and kill themselves.

I got it very shriveled at 9am and it was inflated by noon. It's currently moving out of the bowl I had it in onto sand. I'm very excited. Wish me luck and say a prayer.

Here's some pics. All pics are with a flash.

He was shriveled about 3 inches across with almost no foot when he arrived. Then he turned on his side to inflate the foot. He further inflated over the day. He's about 6 inches now.

First one is at 12:30.

Second one is at 1:45.

Last one is at 4.

Finally have all the pumps back on as well. He's staying put, not floating around.

DaCourtjester22 from the West Virginia Reef Club forum. Just searched for haddoni and carpet every day and jumped when it came up.

PS, really good guy. Won't hesitate to buy from him again if he is every selling anything else.

Good news. He just ate a small piece of krill. Stuck it the outside edge, very sticky, and he pulled it in, in a minute or two.

My fish consist of 10 damsels, 5 yellow tangs, 3 clowns, and a couple of dragonettes. Most from Petco. I won't be too hurt if one lands in there. If I get a pic of the nem eating the blue devil, I may have myself a new avatar. :lol:

That is exactily what fish my condy anemone ate. The blue devil, that and a sand shifing star and every nasuruis(sp?) I ever tired to put in there.

Emerald crabs walk around them like it is nothing.

It's looking good. Eatin' krill each night. Reacts quickly to the krill.

No new pics yet. He hasn't moved out of the bowl. Guess he likes it there for now. I'm just happy he's alive and well.

I predict your Blue Haddoni will eat all your dragonettes and haf of your damsels. So far my blue haddoni has ate 3 dottybacks, 2 green reef Chromis, 1 shrimp and a yellow watchmen goby. They are literally fish eaters.

Nothing in the bag with him. Just air. That bag was in another bag with water as insulation. One final bag and then a heatpack. All this in a igloo. Overnighted.

He may eat many of my fish. Sounds like fish are fairly stupid and just swim right at these things. :lol: Oh well. I'll just have to make another damsel run to petco.

Maybe they should start a feeder damsel tank.

He's still hanging out in the bowl. I know I don't want to rush him out, but when and how should I coax him out?

Leave him. He looks happy and if he's eating that's all that matters. I am sure he will move on his own when he wants to.

Mine hasn't eaten any fish. Some eat peoples fish some don't it seems. It depends on how aggressive he is. I just keep mine well fed. No fish don't usually swim into it. My experience is that the fish immediately respect the anenome and stay clear for the most part. My black Ocellaris won't let any fish close enough to be eaten anyways

He will likely eat a fish or two. I was told he was sold to DaCourtjester22 for eating a 6" reagle tang.

I've noticed that he is a lot more relaxed, laying on the sand, just before lights on. He still has folds and is still sticky. Then after I feed him he perks up, lifts himself off the sand.

He is still gaping, just big enough to put the tip of a finger in.

Are either of these warning signs? Just want to be sure he is doing well and on the up and up.

I agree the one I have ate my geometric pygmy hawlfish in about 3 hours of it being in the tank then coughed up a cartoon style fish skeleton.
