New Blue Haddoni

I agree the one I have ate my geometric pygmy hawlfish in about 3 hours of it being in the tank then coughed up a cartoon style fish skeleton.

 Comments like that require a pic. Even if it's fake.

If your S. Haddoni starts to gape for more than a couple days, then you can start to worry. Do a 20 percent water change and feed your haddoni. I think the best cure for any anemone is feeding your anemone which gives it energy. Let us know how it is doing in a day or two.

Do a water change sounds like the reeftank equivilant to restart your computer. Ever call up a tech support and hear the same set of lines. Restart your computer, clean up tmp files, defrag your disk...

I feed him two peices of krill each night. I've noticed that he looks better after a feeding, but he is still gaping most of the time.

I assume he is just getting used to his new tank, but I will keep updating this thread.

Yes a gaping mouth is a sign of adjustment to a new tank(acclimation) but if your carpet's gaping mouth pursues on, then you will have to restart your computer.;)

Mouth was looking a little tighter last night. I have noticed the mouth looks a little tore, I assume that's why it was stressed.

Was looking better last night though. Was inflating and deflating and getting a little bigger. Not sure how much longer he's going to fit in that bowl.

rkelman, now thats an avatar. ;)

mwood, is your bluecarpet's foot actually attached to the bowl? If its starting to outgrow it and its attached to the bowl, I would gently take the carpet off and place him/her in the sand by the rocks. Your carpet might stress if it becomes squeezed in that bowl. Plus its getting less oxygen and light by being in the bowl.

Yes, he appears to be attached. I've considered trying to move him but haven't wanted to stress him out. Would I just peal his foot off with my fingers? Is there another way?

If your carpet is on a smooth surface, you can use your thumb nail and slowly wedge it underneath the foot. Once your carpet releases itself place it on the sand.

Well, I did it. I was concerned about stressing him out, but it seamed to go well.

Rather than trying to pry is food off the bowl, I dumped the sand out of the bowl, turned the bowl upside down, and pressed on the outside of the bowl. I pressed on the outside where his foot was on the inside to warp the surface he was holding onto. Took a little while, but he let go.

Got him to the spot I had prepared and he dug right into the sand to the bottom of the tank. He was gaping a little, but looked good otherwise.

I'll take pics tonight if all is still looking ok.

Not quite. He does pick himself off the sand after a few pieces of krill. That looks like a tornado.

What do you think of the mouth? Do you see what I mean?

If the mouth is still gaping, I would just keep an eye on it. If you havn't done a water change yet, do one and continue to feed your carpet. They like meaty foods best such as pieces of fish or shrimp.

Nice carpet.. Why the plastic containers? Make sure you leave him alone he'll settle in alot faster with no contact from you. Mine folds like that after a feeding I like when they do that. Sometimes he does the vase thing like yours 55semireef. Lately he's taken to roaming around the tank and just generally ****ing me off... I don't think he's overly impressed with hosting clowns...

He was in one of the containers, and the other was to help him settle in the area I provided without blowing around the tank till he settled in. He's settled in now, but I was going to move the containers slowly to I don't change the flow too quickly.

The folds are like that before he is feed. He really ruffles up and lifts off the sand after a few pieces of krill. Other than feeding, I really don't mess with him or change much. Keep it stable stupid. ;)
