New Bluespine Unicorn pic!

Call me cynical, but I was dubious at 15,000 gallons and now completely convinced that a 200,000 gallon tank is not going to happen.

The tank will be cement with acrylic viewing.. one panel will be in a long hallway, the main viewing panel will be in the billiard/entertainment room with the panel curving up towards the ceiling. The reason for the curve is so I can put the "wave machine" as I saw in the Tropical Diver and this viewing panel will be close to sixty feet long. The right side of the tank will be the viewing panel viewable from the indoor pool.

In a house this size I'm not worried about the cost, just doing it right.

Cement and acrylic viewing pannels is standard for such sized tanks. With curve, your definately talking a few million in construction costs. At least if it's done right. We're talking a large public aquarium sized tank, and a size that only a handful of those even build due to the expense.

So, what is your plan when all the fish you have in that 250 outgrow it before anything else is ready?

Unlike most people I have thought that through. I have room to build a bigger tank (few thousand gallons if necessary). But honestly, if they out grow my tank before something else is ready I know plenty of owners of multiple hundreds/thousands of gallons that will gladly take my fish.

I travel ALOT so I get to gaze at my fish once and a while. All the fish are in the Florida house.

As I read this thread I am a bit surprised at the amount of negative responses by members who know a fair enough about these large fish and large tanks. Instead of being so critical of the OP, maybe a few suggestions on care and long term success would be more productive. He seems to have the desire for a LARGE tank as opposed to many people who feel it's okay to put these fish in a 3-500gal systems. I get it will take years to build the setup he's talking about, and it's possible it will be scaled down in the end. I just don't understand the negative attitudes. This forum has a lot of making the impossible possible and there's several cases of it.

To the OP good luck with your fish and tank build(s)

Numerous times "productive" posts have been made to the OP, and they have pretty much been ignored. The current stock list for his 250 is shocking;

I have currently:

Clown Trigger, Annularis Angel, Passer Angel, French Angel, Emperor Angel, Yellow Tang, Clown Tang, Vlamingi Tang, Sailfin Tang, Stars and Stripes Puffer, Snowflake eel.. and can't forget about the cleaner wrasse!

In the QT there is the Blue line trigger, Scribbled and True Personifer Angel.

Part of the long term success involves an appropriately sized tank with appropriate tankmates. As for the desire for the large tank, that means nothing. Most planned tank-upgrades never happen. In the instances that they do, they are usually much smaller scale than intended. This has been a consistent problem over the years. I have pointed out countless times here that it's best to buy fish that fit to your system. If you ever get that huge tank going, buy the big fish then, when you know you have the room for them.

Thanks! I have noticed the same thing about many other threads, including this one. If it makes people feel better I will stop sharing my love for this hobby (which is the point of this forum) and just comment on others posts. However, I am more capable than most to build a much bigger system and I plan on doing just that with no expense spared. I am not the type, as said, to buy fish which will easily outgrow my tank without having a plan of action for the next steps.

Thank you again Brian.

FYI, the Passer and French are no longer in my system. They left today because they got to large.

As in your sig Todd you are correct. ;)

He is not the first person who has an overstocked tank. I'd even venture the guess that there's a person out there with overstocked tank yet have healthy fish in it that live decades. If not, someone will accomplish it eventually.

Thanks, ENTMogul. I wish you great success and look forward to the build thread! What a cool and masive undertaking!
