New book by Scott Michael

I have just received "Damselfishes & Anemonefishes",book #4 of the Reef Fishes Series.
As all Scott´s books it´s a perfect blend of good first hand info with excellent pics.At only $29.67 everybody should get a copy!
I have not read it yet,but a quick overview shows two errorsage 50 shows a beautiful fish,probably a cardinalfish unknown to me,said to be Chrysiptera rollandi.
And page 225 shows an A chrysopterus under the A.clarkii name.
We should tell Scott about it,so further editions of the book are corrected.
Let us post here any comment on this book!

I wish he would have covered all the clown species and not left some out.

I think his previous books are great. But I'm not too happy that they are dragging out the series. This book was supposed to have wrasses in it also. And leaving out gasters I just don't get.

He leaves out gasters, chagosensis, fuscocaudatus, and latifasciatus.

What!!! All those left out. Then that is a very poor clownfish book IMO.

I should add, they are listed in an inset by scientific name and specific location they are from. But that's it, no other info or pics, just name and island origin.

This is not just a clownfish book.I covers all pomacentrids,clowns and damsels.I don´t think Scott claims to present ALL known pomacentrid species,but the many he has pics or some information,usually first hand and authoritative.
I have not read it but knowing all other Scott´s books I´m sure this will also be a fine reference book.

I guess the ultimate question would be this: What other information were you looking for?
In the damsel section, I thought there were more listings than there needed to be. How many different ways to have you to say, "Gets ugly and aggressive"?

I guess my point is if you're going to write a book about anemonefish (and that's what people are paying for) and call it "The Complete Illustrated Guide to their Identification, Behaviors, and Captive Care", then it should be just that, complete, especially when there isn't that many species to write about in the first place.

Let's say a novice orders this book because they just purchased a pair of gasters, and they're looking to this book for guidance on their specific needs, then they are out of luck.

Fair enough. I don't disagree with that. I would have liked him to at least include pics of the others and at the very least a little blurb saying "keeping these is similar to "x".
I'd also have liked to have seen a better picture of a gold-striped maroon. I know he has better shots of them.

And then we can point out that they should have learned about the fish before buying them. :eek2:
