New BTA

I picked this up from a friend about 2 weeks ago. For the first evening it had trouble attaching so I put a tupperware overtop with a rock zip tied to it. The next morning the nem was attached to the rock on top :hammer: I just need to place it where I want to now. It's about 4" across

I would let him go where he wants on his own merit.

Where you want him may not be where he wants to be. This is where I am with my own BTA atm.

If he detaches naturally you may be able to use your pumps to propel him where you want and them turn them off for a bit and give him a spot feed.

I had a GBTA a few years ago that decided it wanted to be in the middle of a zoa colony. I swore of BTA since then but my clowns have been hosting about every frogspawn, torch and hammer in the tank so I figured I'd try the BTA instead.

Good idea, on my next Nem I will just zip tie the Nem to the rock where I want it to stay. ;-)

This says it all really.

Moderate indirect flow and correct light requirements, together with a crevice the nem can attach to in the rock.

It looks like I have mine where I want him and used the circulation pump to propel him there and then turned it off and fed him - I was able to do this as he was just sitting in the sandbed at the lower corner of my tank so it was easy to circulate him around once I turned the pump back on - I had left it turned off for a couple of days.

He's been in the "ideal" spot for 3 days now.

Well of course today I came home to find it unattached and in a corner, luckily it didn't go into a powerhead. Any advice? I've got it in a tupperware now, it looks quite unhappy.

You could try to put him in an area where you would like him and turn off the powerhead if your return pump circulation is adequate. Then give him a light spot feed of miss or chopped squid/shrimp etc.

Wait until the next day when you are back from work (hopefully he will be in the same place), turn on the powerhead and keep an eye on him. I have mine where I want him but do turn my powerhead off at night to be on the safe side at the moment.
