I got a 7-8" bta two and a half weeks ago. When I bought it, it looked great. After adding to my tank it seems to look excellent during the lights on period but at night it shrinks down and its mouth gapes open. It doesn't really look like it is expelling waste either. During the day the mouth is generally tightly closed, but sometimes it is just barely open. I have tried to feed it either shirmp or kirll around 3 times a week after i bought it. Initially it accepts the food but then during the night it spits it back up. What should i do? I moved the anemone into a container that is hanging inside the tank with slits for water flow to keep the clown away. Did this about two weeks after I bought it because it detached from the glass and was sitting in the sand in a tight ball not looking to great. After being moved to the container it seems to have perc'd back up but was wondering if I could get some advice / suggestions!
fish / corals:
gsm (2.5-3")
hammer coral, candy coral, assorted mushrooms, zoos, leather toadstool, long tentical plate coral.
Not sure if any of these could be chemiclly upsetting the anemone or not.
pH: 8.0-8.3 range
salinty: 32
Nitrate: 0
nitrite: 0
lighting: 10k fluorescent, 24watt. 24watt actinic
additional information:
Tips are generally bubbly.
water change of about 10% 1-2 times a week.
Reasons for not thinking it is just expelling waste: No brown ooze coming out, just throws up its last meal and then sits there with its mouth open wide.
Here are some photos in the order they were taken. Note, the flash was on in a few photos I guess, my coral is not really bleached like that!
