New build questions

I have a 20 gallon rimless that is already plumbed in the back for a sump tank. I was thinking about setting this tank up in my upstairs computer room. I would love to be able to do SPS and a few fish.

list of what i already have: 20 gallon long shallow tank, auto top off system, doser for alk, calc and mag, power heads, reef octopus HOB skimmer, 4 bulb t5 fixture and live rock.

With that being said, will the T5 be enough for sps and is there any cheap solution to add LEDS to supplement lighting needs.

I guess i need a return pump. Suggestions?

I am also going to build a stand for i think a 40 gallon breeder as my sump tank. And then maybe put a 5 gallon bucket beside it for auto top off. My one regret in my 60 cube is not enough room underneath to do what i want.

Depending on the t5 fixture and the bulbs you put in it yiu should be able too. If you wanted to supplement some led lighting, you could add a stuner strip. You'll have to see what will fit with the t5s. As far as a return pump, there's tons of good ones out there. I personally like the Ehiems. The Eheim compact plus might suit you.

Mag drive return pumps have served me well and t-5 lights work well for my 90 gal mixed reef, just get good bulbs.I change my bulbs every 6 months.ps don't use cheep bulbs, u get what u pay for in this hobbie.
