im currently building a 10g nano seahorse and pipefish tank and im wondering if a mini-jet 606 at 159 gph is too much or to little. Ill be starting a build thread in the nano forum in the next day or so.

How much flow do you guys put through you tanks?

How much flow do they need?

Any and all information you can give me about these great amimals would be great?

Like:

What is best to be fed to them?

What is the best water parameters to keep them?

Can i keep fish with them? (Like a golby, sixline, cromis, or any other)

Basically I want to know all I can before I keep one of these peaceful animals.

10G?

10G?

The experts will chime in here, but I think a 10G is too small for even a pair of seahorses. In addition to water volume important to maintain absolutely "stable" quality, they need reasonable height in the water column to thrive.

It's just my opinion, of course, but I wouldn't keep a pair of smaller species horses (Like Reidi or Erectus) in anything under 30G.

Here's a link to acceptable tankmates, but even these wouldn't work in a 10G tank, IMHO.

Hippocampus zosterae or the dwarf seahorse would be alright in a 10 gallon. I believe they need freshly hatched brine shrimp daily to survive though. Do a little research on the species and see if they would work for you. I don't think they like tank mates though...
