New camera, new pics: Mags and BTAs

I keep coming back to this thread because of the wonderful photos. I believe magnificas to be my favorite anemones and yours are so beautiful. However the more I look at the pictures the more I really appreciate the grey variety of bubble tip you have. I keep envisioning a monster deep red maroon wallowing in their tentacles! If you ever seperate the two species that may be a good option.

Yes! That would be stunning. I know GSMs are more popular, but I think the cooler colors of the WSM would be even more complementary.

If you go to the fourth clip down on this link, you'll see something very much like what you describe:

Premnas biaculeatus

ETA: Blast! Linked search results aren't persistent. Just go to Stock Footage and do a search for Premnas; it will be the fourth clip in the results list.

Couldn't agree more about the WSM, and yes that clip is almost exactly of what I had in mind. I love how the maroon/red color just jumps out of the grey anemone.

In another tank I have RBTAs (clones of the ones in the pics here) and a pair of GSMs, but I agree, WSMs are beautiful and perhaps would make a nicer looking combo than the GSMs.

Here's a pic I just snapped:

Lovely! I think the peachy color of that particular BTA morph sets off the GSMs very nicely. But of course, nobody will object if you want to implement Winwood's idea and then post a few shots of that, either. :D

As much as I like the idea of WSMs with my RBTAs, I'm partial to this pair. They spawn regularly and get along great together. The male's yellow is bright but the female's color varies more and is sometimes a drab olive and then on occasion a bright yellow. She measure over 3 inches. Maybe some day in another tank I'll give a WSM pair a shot, but for now no space for it.

That is a very nice pair and lovely pics. I was actually referring to your grey colored bta's and not the rose colored ones. I think you might end up with a kind of Ohio State color scheme if you did that.

Yeah, I like the peachy/yellow BTAs with the GSMs. They're beautiful fish. I agree with Winwood, I was thinking of a second setup with the grey BTAs and WSMs. Again, I'm just doing a little vicarious reefing...feel free to ignore me. :p

Gary!Awesome Mag's there!

I am getting ready to get a mag and put in my 125.I miss all my anemones,Im down to one now since I sold all them off, cant wait to atleast get my good ol' mag back...hahaha

Did you get yours online or locally?

Actually the RBTAs are all clones. It's the difference between T-5s in the FTS and 10000K MH in the pics with the clownfish.

I've had the mags for 9 years and 6 years (yellow tipped tentacle mags 9 and the purple based 6). And yes I did get them locally.

The camera is a Panasonic Lumix.

I am wondering if any color carpet besides the green colored ones shows much if any phosphorescence under actinics and if they do, to what degree compared to the rbta's. sorry, hope I am more clear.

I don't have any pure actinics, however, when only blue lights are on I do see fluorescence in the yellow tips of the mags.
