i do water changes every 7 to 10 days with real ocean water (i live near ocean) and is collected at high tide when water rushing in.
not sure if i need to add anything to get more coloration to sps and am looking for info or suggestions. i use 6 t5's ho on a 80 gal bowfront, with overskimming (skimmer designed for 250 gallon tank) any ideas?

Great tank sunnyx! The monti cap is massive.

Is your tank on a bit of an angle or are my eyes tricking me?
The water level at the top of the tank seems to get lower and lower towards the right?

Hey Sunny. You said you add Lugol's solution. I am really unfamiliar with this. Why do you like it and what is it supposed to add?

I only add fish food, Nori, and Randy's two part.

btw, did anyone see that special last night which was on Discovery or the Science channel about the Geneticists who took the boat trip around the world and took a sample of ocean water in key locations? They were able to use a method to determine how many unique brand new species (At the microscopic level) that they had acquired. It was a very broad study and the big outcome was simply the fact that there are millions upon millions of unknown species in the ocean at the microscopic level which are still undiscovered yet. They only know they exist through this method.

I guess this isn't really for this thread but I just thought about it and thoght it was pretty cool.

What problems are you having?

-Increase your SG to 1.026 or 35 PPM.
-Decrease your Ph to 8.4.
-Keep temp and ph swings to a minimum.

This shot was taken with the camera straight out of the box in close-up mode. I will get a Sigma 105MM Macro pretty soon to take really detailed pics.

Actually my frame is what is throwing it off. The frame is off a little to the right. One of these days I will get around to fixing it. ;)

I have been adding Lugols since day one and it seems to aid in coloration and SPS health.

how much and how often do you add the lugols?

10 Drops every sunday morning.

I am not trying to be funny but how do you know it helps if you used it from day one? I don't question your husbandry skills as I know they are obviously really good. I am just really curious as to folks using this as a Iodine suppliment.
