ok..i just added my first Anemone to my tank...its a tan carpet..just go him last night. The lil sucker what stay still and keeps moving around...he flips himself upside down so i flip him right side up...well ive done this several times but ive finally given up and i figure he knows what hes doing...ive read it may take them awhile to find that sweet spot and its only been like 12hrs since i put him in there so no big deal...

newayz...my reason for posting is my clowns that have been in my tank since the get go dont seem to be interested in the carpet Anemone. i tried putting them in a bowl with the Anemone for a while before i put the Anemone in the display so it would try hosting them but they were more worried about being out of their enviorment so i dont think it did any good..

well like i said my carpet is in the display now along with the clowns and they still dont seem interested in the carpet...

is this just gana take time or should i be trying something now?

Its going to take time, and it also depends what type of clowns your have. Not all clowns will host in S. haddoni, or S. gigantea, you'll have to look at the sticky on this forum and see if your clowns host in your type of anemone. Now with that said, I have had clowns host in almost everything including non anemones and unnatural hosts.

Do you know what type of anemone you have? I wouldn't be too concerned with it as of now. At least from what I have seen it isn't always best for the anemone to host clowns right away as it can sometime further stress the animal when they are first introduced into the tank.

Yea, would be nice to know what type of carpet.

IMO, putting them in a bowl with the anemone is a bad idea -- could very well end up with eaten clowns, they need time to get used to the anemone before they can be hosted by it.

A healthy carpet should attach right away, what are your water parameters, what lights, and how much flow do you have?

a reatared one :)

Those two pictures don't make it seem all that healthy. And "my reading are all perfect" doesn't tell us a whole lot, numbers behind the "perfect" would go a long way.

What about the salinity?

It is hard to tell from that picture, but I am starting to wonder if that isn't an Atlantic carpet, which isn't a hosting anemone.

Todd if you look on the first pic when it is kinda rolled up it looks like purple spots under his disk..I would say a very poor shape Gigantea and if so you need way more than one powerhead. And its gonna be a battle to get it to make it.
These are on of the hardest nems to care for next to a ritteri.

Are you able to confirm it has purple spots under its disk?

Also what kind of lights etc do you have?

umm..i didnt see any purple spots underneath it...oh and i have more than 1 power head, ive got 3 koralia #4's..just 1 was pointing in his direction...

as far as lighting goes i got the Outer orbit pro series lighting fixture.. metal halides, actnics, moon lights, lunar lights... nice fixture...

If its a gig then the foot should be sticky and it should attach straight away, If it does attach them try giving it a little Mysis.
Is it sticky to the touch? Has it completly deflated at all?
If the answers are yes, very and no respectively then you may have a chance.

yea its real sticky and yes its found itself a home! been there all afternoon and evening so im good to go with carpet...

now the real question is why arnt my clowns hosting in it?

What clowns are they
No word of a lie I put a picture of clowns in an anemone on the tank glass and they were in in 20 minutes.
