New Carpet/Clown Tank

I am setting up a 60 gallon tank that will be a Carpet Anemone (S. haddoni) and Clown tank only.

I have read through a lot of the posts here and really don't have a good feel for the reliability of purchasing a carpet from an online vendor.

Could you please share your experiences with me.

I intend to tap my LFS on the shoulders also.

anemone and clowns

anemone and clowns

Sounds cool, are you going to cycle it with things from your present tank? I have bought anemones from liveaquaria, with good results. I love anemone tanks and pics of them. Good luck sounds fun.

Yep, I will use the live sand and rock from the current tank.

I'm doing the same thing (almost.. 45 cube, mostly clown and 'nem only).. I'd try local first. I don't have any personal experience shipping anemones but I've heard the haddonis aren't great shippers. They're supposed to be better than giganteas though

Well I have my 60 gallon tank now.

I have decided that the tank will be a Clown/Carpet Anemone/Assorted Feather Duster tank.

I need to make some modifications to the hood, canopy, stand, and sump. I will post pictures as the build progresses.

Please submit your suggestions and criticisms. I am a big believer that many brains are better than one....

How many clowns at what species are you planning on putting in?

If 2 end up mating, there could be fighting for territory especially if there's only 3 clowns.

If you put in 4 and end up with 2 pairs, there MAY be fighting for your territory in your tank, I'm not sure if the size will be enough someone else with more experience will have to tell you.

Either way, good luck!

Right now I just plan on one pair. Trying to keep this as simple as I can. I am going to let the nem adjust to the tank for a while and then add the clowns.

That sound like a good plan?

Yeah that should be fine.

If you want them to pair up you should get them when their juveniles and both male.

Eventually one will become the dominant one and become the female. You will likely end up with a mated pair.

In a 60 gallon you will have plenty of room for a full grown mated pair of clowns, a few anemones and probably several other fish depending on what they are.
