New chicago area reefer

Hello all, I am going to be moving to the chicago area in the very near future (whithin the next couple of weeks, new job at Argonne). I just wanted to introduce myself here and see how active the club is in the area. I am coming to Chicago from Salt Lake City where we have a really nice club and lots of really great people and tanks and it looks like there is a really good club in Chicago as well!

My current tank is a ~20 gal flat back hex built by one of the local shops in Utah and is mostly sps currently.
Lighting is a single 250W 14k DE halide
Filtration is simply carbon and regular water changes
Current inhabitants are a midas and tail spot blenny, crocea and maxima clams, various acros and montis, Large toadstool and the ever popular xenia and green star polyps.

Here are some pics taken back in February posted on the local board (WMAS)

Yea, yea the sox might win, but at least the Cubs fans are all there til the end, half of your fans just started likin' them after last years win ;). You will enjoy the club out here. Tons of nice people and a handfull of nice stores. Are you moving into the city itself or into a near suburb? Nice tank btw!

Nice tank. Look forward to havin' ya here. There's alot of great people here and I think that you'll really enjoy the LFS out here. We can definately steer you in the right direction for good LFS. When you get out here, let us know what you are looking for, and we'll let you know the best place to get it.

( I think I used too many "here's" in that post :) )

Thanks guys. I am looking forward to having some more time to be involved in the club and meeting you all. While in grad school i didnt have a lot of time to be as active in the club as I would have liked. I did go to some meetings and got 90% of my corals from other people.

I am planning to bring all my stuff with me, hope the move goes well and it all (most) makes it.

We will be in the burbs. Either the plainfield or naperville area is the way it looks right now.

Brian,

You will be happy to know that the area(s) you are looking to move to is teaming with experienced reefers that are never afraid to help a fellow reefer. Let us know when/where you get settled and if you need anything.

Good luck with the move.

Bill.

Guess I should add that I am neither a Sox or Cubs fan.... or any baseball fan for that matter. I am, however, a devout Bears fan and have been for years.... maybe now I can actually attend one of their games!
