Can I ask the 2 people who say that the clown can't be keep in this tank. Have you experienced this first hand or just read about it.

What do you have in the tank with it and how big is the tank. Unless I missed it I don't think I saw you post on this thread before

I want to know more myself. Reason being is sage and jim sold me the fish and they got me into the hobby in 2000 back when I was in 7th grade.

Anyway they sold me the fish about 4-5 months ago, and when they brought it in they knew every detail about my system as they sold me my trigger systems ruby elite 36 sump and what not.

Anyways, they said the difference between 73.5" and 84" and 96" is NOT make or break with this fish.

These people have never steered me wrong. Again, I bought the fish knowing it required 84" minimum, and 220g minimum. However I would also like to know more information from those saying this clown tang WILL FOR SURE out grow the tank or at the very least, end up being the only fish in the tank.

I understand if the fish grows to it's ocean size of 18-30" then yes, it will absolutely outgrow the tank. But it could very well stop growing at 10-12" in the tank environment unless someone here has actual experience suggesting otherwise.

NOTE/DISCLAIMER: I am saying this as an educational discussion and for others to learn from, not to argue.

I'm reading this thread because I also have a clown tang and have NOT YET witnessed any overt aggression, although I have a well established powder brown and a regal that give it the business if it comes close. Wondering if it being put in his place has anything to do with no aggression?

Can people state how long the had the fish and its side to. Also what size tank they have it in or maybe picture of tanks.

Here is a video update of this tank.

The clown tang is doing really wonderful and growing fairly impressively, but nothing "off the chain". From 1.5-2" when I first got him/her to 5-6" now.

My tank is 73" with limited rock. I figure in 1-2 years it will give me an excuse to set up my 84" long 220g tank. I mean you talk to some on here and they say 110" minimum. I'd say 84" is fine, and even 73" if the tank is wide and tall enough.

We will see, of course. My soldier fish both swim around WAY faster then my clown tang and they are all the same length

Just picked up a 2" clown that I'd seen at a LFS for a few weeks that just looked sadder and sadder. I'm not in the habit of impulse fish buys, but .....

Kept these fish on a couple of prior occasions. I'd view it as a slightly more aggressive version of the Achilles - needs tons of flow and plenty of open space. IME, not as 'evil' as the Sohal, which I will never keep again. After QT, will go into an open 125 long untill it ougrows, then my 265.

Congrats! Mine is around 6.5" long now. When I originally got it, it was around 2 to 2.5 inches.

Fantastic fish, and so far not much of a bully. Once he is full grown, I imagine I will have a bully issue, but I am good for now.

My flow is very high, my params and take are great, and my clown tang is loving it. Still eating like an absolute pig. Out of the 40+ amazing salt water fish in my home, the Clowntang in my 150 long is by far one of favorites
