How long have you had your Garibaldi, and what's your water tempeture?

Ive had him for about 3 weeks now. Temp is usually around 73-74 but its been hot so its been a little higher. Here is a video of my tank from a few weeks ago.

Nice looking fish (and super clear pictures), but any concern about your eel? I was on edge the entire video expecting to see it tear one to pieces. I lost track of how many times it looked like it was close to striking one of them.

Lol yeah he does that all the time. They are all too big for him to eat but he gets all hyper and trys to snap at them somewhat like you saw. Never has though thankfully.

Awesome! One of my fav fish! How big is the clown?

Hes about 4 1/2 to 5.

Awesome fish! I'll be getting a clown in the future, can't wait!! I've always wanted a Garibaldi. Can they survive in regular tropical temps?

He has a big enough tank to where it shouldn't be a problem.

I've never heard this. My understanding is clown, queen and titan are absolute no no's with lionfish. However, if what you are saying is true what size tank is suitable for them long term. I have a clown juvie in a 75 and a full grown lion in a 180. My plan was to get a 6' X 3' 300 for the clown and a few damsels and tough tangs. The lion was to stay in his 180. But if it's possible to keep them together in a larger tank I'm definetly intrested in hearing more about it.

It will be. Clown triggers are famous for playing nice, then going postal without warning. Sooner or later, he'll find the lions fins irresistible. Yeah, its been done, but long-term success stories are very, very rare.

+1

Clown triggers are ticking bombs - you never know when they'll decide that the tank belongs to them and all else must go!

I gotta go with the last two posters. All will be fine for weeks, months, perhaps even years. Then one day you will come home and everything will be dead or dying except the clown. At least that was my experience.

That's pretty much what I thought and have always heard. I think I'll keep mine separated.

This is what I wanted to say. They will be fine together while he is small, but when he starts to get HUGE....it's a different story.
