so i got a maroon clownfish about a week ago. he was doing fine eating and everything until sunday he got ich and now he still has ich. All of the fish i had before always had ich from the beginning and do fine after couple of days.

i was wondering y does this happen? i think i might of stressed him out cuz everytime i look at him he hides.

fyi i do hav a uv sterilizer.

he either had ich or your tank had ich. all fished are stressed when moved to a new tank.
if you have healthy fish and healthy tank you usually won't see ich.
having said that i've only had good luck with buying fish from fellow reefers.
for whatever reason when i buy from a lfs they seem to have ich.
some will say the lfs has better quality water so when we put them in a tank with higher nitrates ect. it brings on the ich. when you get fish from local reefers they're already conditioned to aquarium living so to speak.
most lfs fish are pulled from the ocean and ready for you to buy within a week or so unless your getting aquacultured.
i just feed my fish ocean nutrition with garlic.
it's also a good idea to have a skunk cleaner shrimp.

if you always add a fish and they get ich, then your tank has it. a UV will not kill everything 100%. you should go to the disease forum and see what you neede to do for your tank. i think you'll need to have your tank lie fallow for 8 to 12 weeks or so.

i see tanks for all ur opinions. he is eating the garlic ocean nutrition so hopefully i see some progress with this week. Also i did a water check today. and my nitrate is at 10 and everything else is 0. ph is 8.3

Feeding him garlic ocean nutrition isn't going to do anything to get rid of ich in your tank.

You need to remove ALL fish from you main tank, and put them in QT. Then in QT treat them with one of the 3: copper, hyposalinity, or tank transfer method.

And your main tank needs to sit without fish for at least 8 weeks so the ich can die off.

how´s the clown now? is it ok?

I think the ich came due stree caused by several changes (water, enviroment, temperature, tank mates, etc)

+1....best advice. Garlic isnt going to get rid of ich. If he does fight it off....youll be asking this question again soon and you will get the advice to QT your fish and treat.
