New Clownfish Questions

I got a paired set of Percula clownfish on Saturday, I drip acclimated them for an hour and put them in the tank right above my purple mushroom rock. They haven't moved away from the mushrooms yet. I am not really as concerned about that I was reading that clownfish will host just about anything.

My concern is that they haven't stop swimming, they swim all day and all night, is this normal? They don't venture far from the mushrooms but it seems strange that they don't rest at night. The LFS that i purchased them from had them in a small display tank and they already had a host anemone, I didn't purchase the anemone could this be causing a problem as well?

They're just lost without their host. I have taken away a nem from a clarkii clown 2 days ago and she swims constantly also. Seems to always be looking for her nem.

I probably wouldn't have bought the percs without the nem unless I had another nem waiting for them. They will get over it after a while. They may be mourning their loss. Ffish have feelings too!!

Sounds like maybe a new setup. Not ready for an anemone yet.

Sounds normal to me.

The tank has been set-up for a year now. So i could have an anemone in that regards, but i am concerned my lighting might be inadequate, i currently only have 1 10,000K 96w PC and 1 96w antic PC. but i could put another 1 or 2 96w PC's over the tank if needed.

You would have to add to your current lighting, one more 96 watt would be good, two more PC's would be better. I'm assuming this is over our 55 gallon? May want to even consider T-5 if you haven't purchased anything yet, cheeper in the long run, with less heat issue.

Please take the time to research their requirements before purchasing.

I have been researching, it was basically why i didn't get the clowns and the anemone at the same time. I have an extra ballast that can power 2 96w PC's that i could add to my set-up. I may consider doing this soon.

But right now will the clowns adjust to life with out their anemone or should i make the anemone and lighting upgrade a priority?

I need to back up for a minute. This whole time we didn't ask what type of anemone. I was assuming BTA, which is bad on my part. Lighting requirements do make a difference as to what type of anemone. Do you know what type you are considering?

I think it was a BTA i wasn't paying that close attention to anemone since i wasn't planning on getting one

I am considering a BTA mainly since they don't need metal halides.
