hey everybody this is my first thread on rc!. i just setup a 55gal tank over the last 2 months. today my wife and i purchased 2 small percula clowns about 1" in total length maybe a little more.

i acclimated then for about an hour slowly adding my water to thebag and removing the bag water to the sink drain. they ,ve been in the tank for a bout three hours they appear to be doing fine. we fed them brine shrimp from the lfs. their interested in the food but not shoveling it in which i read is normal right? one of the fish appears to be twitching. kind of like when a human gets the chills. does anyone know what this? is if this is normal? waterparameters are good 78 deg ph 7.8, sg 23

any other suggestions or tips is deffinately welcome - thanks everyone.

They Should be ok, when I got my clown fish.. they were just still hiding in the rocks.

Check out how they sleep its funny... the second day when I woke up, I saw both of them sleeping sideways.. I thought they were going to die.. lol

yeah seems that they are doin fine swimming all over. theyre the only 2 in a 55 gallon tank and theyre small? got to get some anemone's.

Hey :)
Good to see the fish are going ok. Clownfish are one of those breeds that don't exactly do everything from the book and each clownfish will have it's own very unique personality.

Our clownfish are often chasing each other, other fish, shaking (submission dance) and digging holes in the sand on the bottom of the tank (where they host). Just part of the fun of owning clownfish.

As for getting an Anemone, I wouldn't recommend that until your tank is mature, especially with a 55g as the parameters can/will fluctuate quite alot and this would kill the Anem. Clowns don't need an Anen to host in, they will happily live in anything, even on a heater or in the corner of a tank.

Just think through your decision to get an Anemone as they can be quite a lot of work, and there is no guarantee the clownfish will even live in it.
